1001 Nights was the first and titular story in the audio anthology, 1001 Nights, which comprised the one hundred and sixty-eighth release in Big Finish's monthly range. It was written by Emma Beeby and Gordon Rennie and featured Peter Davison as the Fifth Doctor and Sarah Sutton as Nyssa.
It also serves as the framing device for the rest of the anthology.
Summary
The Doctor has been imprisoned and Nyssa must tell stories to save him. But the stories' true purpose is much more sinister...

- The story's title alludes to One Thousand and One Nights, more commonly known as Arabian Nights.
Continuity
- Nyssa states that the Doctor had a different face when she first met him on Traken in 1981 and that he was travelling with Adric. (TV: The Keeper of Traken) She also mentions that it was not until he regenerated that she began to properly travel with him. (TV: Logopolis, Castrovalva)
