This article needs a big cleanup.

As this is a real world page, concepts of validity have little to no meaning. Thus, all invalid Doctors should be added.

These problems might be so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Talk about it here or check the revision history or Manual of Style for more information.

The following is a list of incarnations and manifestations of the Doctor. While the Doctor's species was contentious among accounts, with the possibility that the Doctor was human, (TV: The Evil of the Daleks, PROSE: Doctor Who and the Daleks, The Monsters from Earth) a Time Lord, (TV: The War Games, The Time Warrior, et al.) a hybrid, (TV: Doctor Who, et al.) or something else entirely, the Doctor was consistently shown to be capable of regeneration, even among conflicting reports of how that process worked. As such, the Doctor had numerous incarnations over their lifetime, but the exact order and number was as contradictory as the Doctor's species itself.

The Doctor's early life

According to many accounts, there existed many incarnations of the Doctor prior to his so called "first" - while plentiful, they were also contradictory.

The Doctor's first regeneration cycle

Accounts varied as to whether the Doctor's first regeneration cycle was preceeded by other, redacted incarnations, or if the cycle was truly the first.

1 - 8

"Curse" Doctors

According to some accounts, the Doctor's ninth incarnation was a "listless looking man", who was suceeded by a number of incarnations in rapid succession.

"Shalka" Doctor

According to other accounts, the Doctor's ninth incarnation was a "pale, aristocratic man".

Other ninth incarnations

There were also other accounts as to who the ninth incarnation was.

War - 13

According to other accounts, the Doctor's ninth incarnation was a "man with a big ears in a leather jacket" or a forgotten warrior.

Manifestations from The Doctor's first regeneration cycle

The Doctor's second regeneration cycle

After the siege of Trenzalore the Eleventh Doctor was granted a second set of regenerations by the Time Lords. (TV: The Time of the Doctor)

The Doctor's future regeneration cycles

Many accounts state that the Doctor lives beyond a second regeneration cycle.
