Theresa May was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 2018. On 5 May, Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart read a news article about Theresa May being encouraged to pursue a "no compromise" Brexit after UKIP voters flocked to Tories in local elections. (PROSE: Lucy Wilson and the Bledoe Cadets)
Behind the scenes
In the real world in 2016, Theresa May publicly stated that she "always like[ed] to see Doctor Who on Christmas night, if possible". Peter Capaldi responded to this news, saying he "hope[d] she takes on the message of kindness and tolerance and compassion to heart." In 2019, John Barrowman went to 10 Downing Street to celebrate Burns Night and learned Theresa May also watched Torchwood.[1]
Boris Johnson succeeded Theresa May as Prime Minister of the UK in 2019, following her resignation.
