By 1959, Macmillan was Prime Minister. During Prime Minister's Question Time, Macmillan had an angry exchange with the Leader of the Opposition, Gaitskell, over the crashed Waverider rocket. Macmillan angrily accused him of playing into the hands of Soviet propagandists by asking if there was any intention to place an advanced surveillance device into orbit.
