- 7 - The Seventh Doctor, Ace, Markus Creevy and Lt. Raina Kerenskaya attended the ceremony in Red Square in Moscow marking the 50th anniversary of the October Revolution, where they saw Yuri Gagarin and Valentina Tereshkova, the first person and the first woman in space respectively, on the podium. The Doctor explained to Ace that the celebration of the October Revolution was held in November as Russia was still using the Julian calendar, which was eleven days behind the Gregorian calendar, in 1917. - Raine Creevy was born in Moscow to Markus Creevy and Lt. Raina Kerenskaya. She was delivered by the Seventh Doctor. (AUDIO: Thin Ice)

- 13 - Jack Cunningham, who played the jailer in TV: The Reign of Terror, died in London.
- 14 - TV: The Underwater Menace Episode 1 was first broadcast.
- 14 - The final instalment of The Daleks comic strip was published in TV Century 21.

- 11 - TV: The Macra Terror Episode 1 was first broadcast. A new title sequence and updated logo and a new arrangement of the theme with added echo debuted; with some adjustments, this theme arrangement remained in use until 1980. This was the first appearance of the lead actor's face in the opening credits, a practice in use until 1989.

- 01 - TV: The Evil of the Daleks Episode 7 was first broadcast, ending the fourth season. According to REF: The Official Doctor Who & the Daleks Book, Terry Nation withdrew the rights to use to the Daleks from the BBC to attempt launching a spinoff series; as a result, except for a couple of references, the Daleks did not properly appear again until 1972's TV: Day of the Daleks.
- PROSE: Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks received its first American paperback publication by Avon Books. This was the first Doctor Who novel to be published in the US and the only American edition published until the late 1970s.
- 12 - Richard Herring (Taylor Renchard in WC: Real Time) was born.
- 18 - Writer Paul Cornell was born.
- 22 - The monster movie Kingu Kongu no gyakushû was released in Japan. In 1968 the film was renamed King Kong Escapes and was released in the US. The English-language version of the film was notable for the name given to the villain of the piece -- Dr. Who.
- A film adaptation of The Winter's Tale received initial showings in the US. The film featured Tom Baker, making his film debut, in a bit role.

- The third Doctor Who Annual was published.
- 1 - Steve Pemberton (Strackman Lux in TV: Silence in the Library/Forest of the Dead) was born.
- 02 - TV: The Tomb of the Cybermen Episode 1 was first broadcast, marking the start of Season 5.
- 09 - TV: The Tomb of the Cybermen Episode 2 was first broadcast.
