Frock coat

A frock coat was a formal coat characterised by a knee-length skirt cut all around the base just above the knee, popular during the Victorian and Edwardian periods.

(TV: The Power of Kroll et al) He wore his grey tweed frock coat most notabl during his farewell to Sarah Jane Smith; (TV: The Hand of Fear) and when helping his past and future incarnations. The Sixth Doctor initially wore a patchwork frock coat with several different colours and fabrics; (TV: The Twin Dilemma) most notably during the 1985 Cyberman Invasion of Earth, (TV: Attack of the Cybermen), his first encounter with Mentors, (TV: Vengeance on Varos) when foiling the Tremas Master and the First Rani on Killingworth during the 19th century, (TV: The Mark of the Rani), when saving his second incarnation from Androgums and leading members of the Ninth Sontaran Battle Group, (TV: The Two Doctors) when confronting the Borad, (TV: Timelash) when dealing with Davros and his Necros Daleks during the Necros Incident, (TV: Revelation of the Daleks) when helping his past and future incarnations during the Fall of Gallifrey, (TV: The Day of the Doctor) and during his show trial forged by the Valeyard to frame him and justify killing him so he can claim his remaining lives. (TV: The Mysterious Planet-The Ultimate Foe) He replaced with a similar coat in azure blue for a period (AUDIO: Real Time onwards) before returning to the original up to his death. (AUDIO: The Brink of Death; TV: Time and the Rani)

The Seventh Doctor spent his first hours in the Sixth Doctor's patchwork frock coat. He tried on a Napoleonic frock coat in navy and ivory with gold epaulettes and a crimson trim. He also tried a copy of the Fifth Doctor's beige frock coat with a scarlet trim for a silver grey safari jacket. (TV: Time and the Rani)

The Eighth Doctor wore many double-breasted frock coats of velvet done in forest green, (TV: Doctor Who) navy blue, (COMIC: Dreadnought), olive green, (COMIC: Ophidius), or dark brown. (PROSE: The Year of Intelligent Tigers) He notably wore his forest green frock coat when helping his past and future incarnations during the Fall of Gallifrey. (TV: The Day of the Doctor)

On the Titanic launching of 1912, the Ninth Doctor wore an ebony black moleskin frock coat. (TV: Rose)

During his retirement to the Victorian era, the Eleventh Doctor wore a single-breasted frock coat of wine purple moleskin with black lamb fur lining. (TVThe Great DetectiveThe Snowmen) When travelling with Clara Oswald, he wore a frock coat of eggplant purple cashmere; (TV: The Bells of Saint John, etc) most notably when helping to foil the 1562/2013 Zygon Invasion of Earth and helping to save Galifrey during its 'fall', (TV: The Day of the Doctor) and before and after the Siege of Trenzalore. The Twelfth Doctor wore the Eleventh Doctor's cashmere frock coat during his first hours. (TV: The Time of the Doctor, Deep Breath) He occasionally wore a single-breasted frock coat of raven black velvet with cornflower blue lining, (TV: The Pilot) or ebony black linen. (TV: World Enough and Time|The Doctor Falls, Twice Upon A Time)

The Fugitive Doctor wore a navy tweed frock coat. (TV: Fugitive of the Judoon, The Timeless Children, Once, Upon Time)

The Curator, taking the form of an older Sixth Doctor, wore frock coats; one of violet moleskin, (AUDIO: Crossed Lines) and one of burgundy and peach pinstripe. (AUDIO: The Artist at the End of Time)

Romana wore frock coats on rose pink, (TV: Destiny of the Daleks) scarlet, (TV: The Horns of Nimon) or beige. (TV: State of Decay)

Graham O'Brien wore a grey tweed frockcoat during a trip to New York during 1903. (TV: Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror). He and Ryan Sinclair also wore black frock coats when they met Mary Shelley, Lord George Gordon Byron, John Polidori, Claire Clairmont, and Ashad on 1816. (TV: The Haunting of Villa Diodati)

The Toymaker wore a frock coat done in scarlet and ivory with gold trims as part of his drum major outfit when he plays the Spice Girls song Spice Up Your Life while messing with UNIT in London during 2023. (TV: The Giggle)

Charles Dickens and Gabriel Sneed wore black frock coats when they met the Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, and the Gelth on 1869. (TV: The Unquiet Dead)
