  • 01 - DW: The Evil of the Daleks Episode 7 was first broadcast, ending the fourth season. According to REF: The Official Doctor Who & the Daleks Book, Terry Nation withdrew the rights to use to the Daleks from the BBC to attempt launching a spinoff series; as a result, except for a couple of references, the Daleks did not properly appear again until 1972's DW: Day of the Daleks.
  • DWN: Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks received its first American paperback publication by Avon Books. This was the first Doctor Who novel to be published in the US and the only American edition published until the late 1970s.
  • 12 - Richard Herring (Taylor Renchard in WC: Real Time) was born.
  • 18 - Writer Paul Cornell was born.
  • 22 - The monster movie Kingu Kongu no gyakushû was released in Japan. In 1968 the film was renamed King Kong Escapes and was released in the US. The English-language version of the film was notable for the name given to the villain of the piece -- Dr. Who.
  • A film adaptation of The Winter's Tale received initial showings in the US. The film featured Tom Baker, making his film debut, in a bit role.
