Murray Gold, the composer behind the music of The Devil's Chord [+]Loading...["The Devil's Chord (TV story)"] itself, was credited as playing "himself" during the final musical sequence (where he is seen playing the piano) in one of several fourth wall jokes throughout the episode. Gold had previously played an unnamed guitarist in an uncredited cameo in Voyage of the Damned [+]Loading...["Voyage of the Damned (TV story)"].
In an interview published shortly after The Devil's Chord aired, Russell T Davies, prodded on the fact that Murray Gold was credited as playing "himself", noted with a laugh[1]:
He existed in 1963. He is immortal and eternal, and will always be with us.
