Operation Sunburst Begins! was a short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe. Framed as the front page of an in-universe periodical, the titular article instead made reference to the Thunderbirds comic story Solar Danger [+]Loading...["Solar Danger (comic story)"], which was a crossover with the DWU.

- Jeff Tracy's orders to the crew of Thunderbird 3 — "Object of mission: to set course for the Sun, locate breakout of solid matter of planetary size, attack and destroy" — is quoted.
- Reports come in hourly to Marineville from Commander Sam Shore, at present directing operations at the Amadan Lake in South America, scene of the recent monorail sabotage.
- There is no trace of Stingray. Almost as soon as Stingray dived to investigate the possibility of a hostile underwater race, contact was broken, and even echo-scanners have failed to locate the craft.
