The Prime Minister was threatened by Mr Fotheringay with a box containing a space eel and was reduced to a nervous wreck, deferring in all matters to him. Lizbeth Hayhoe and Norton Folgate went to 10 Downing Street to speak with him and refused to leave without him, but Mr Fotheringay and Gideon Lyme returned them to Ashenden. (AUDIO: Ashenden)

The four real-life prime ministers of the 1950s, and thus possible identities of this character, were Clement Attlee (1945-1951), Winston Churchill (1951-1955), Anthony Eden (1955-1957) and Harold Macmillan (1957-1963).
