Anthony Eden

Eden was a Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during the 20th century.

He was an associate of Winston Churchill. During the Second World War, he paraded alongside him in an open-top vehicle. (GAME: "Looking back at Winston Churchill" [+]Part of Amy's History Hunt, Loading...{"namedpart":"Looking back at Winston Churchill","1":"Amy's History Hunt (video game)"})

At some point, Eden became Prime Minister. The Twelfth Doctor mentioned Eden as a possible candidate when asking the Landlord who the Prime Minister was in 2017. (TV: Knock Knock [+]Loading...["Knock Knock (TV story)"])

  • Though not explicitly stated in Knock Knock, "Eden" is most likely a reference to the real life Anthony Eden.
  • Real world archive footage of Anthony Eden was used in the video Looking back at Winston Churchill, part of the BBC Doctor Who website game Amy's History Hunt [+]Loading...["Amy's History Hunt (video game)"]. He is never identified in the video. The footage in question was of Churchill and Eden touring Tunisia in 1943.[1]
  • Eden was played by Hugh Fraser in Edward & Mrs. Simpson, Michael Gough in Suez 1956, Anthony Calf in Upstairs Downstairs and Samuel West in Darkest Hour.
  • Timewyrm: Exodus [+]Loading...["Timewyrm: Exodus (novel)"] references real-world Nazi plans, discovered after World War II, to arrest many significant British figures during Operation Sealion. Known as The Black Book in real life, Eden, as Secretary of State for War, was on that list.
