An internet café, or cybercafé, was, according to the Fourth Doctor, "a place where people sip[pped] tea or coffee while they browse[d] the internet on their computers". (PROSE: The Dragons of Prague) According to Evelyn Smythe, internet cafés weren't born until at least two years after 1993. (PROSE: Instruments of Darkness) The Eighth Doctor described an internet café in 1997 as having big personal computers sitting on each table. (PROSE: The Dying Days) By 2012, they had laptops instead of desktops set up within, for all to use. (PROSE: The Dragons of Prague) Cybercafés were not frequently open on Sundays. (PROSE: The Suns of Caresh)

The Doctor appeared to have forgotten about such a business by his eighth incarnation. In 1997, Bernice Summerfield suggested it to him as a good place to do some research and study data. Unfortunately, as they had spent all their money on Benny's new clothes, so Benny was forced to promise sex to the café owner for internet access. He gave them that, and free cappuccinos. While battling the Millennium Codex on New Year's Eve 1999, (PROSE: Millennial Rites) Melanie Bush used an internet café to gather information about her and the Sixth Doctor's enemies. (PROSE: Instruments of Darkness)

By 2004, there was an internet café in Las Palmas. There, the Ninth Doctor warned Stephen Norris about being Anthony Wallenda's friend and supporting Liverpool. (PROSE: Have You Seen This Man?)

In 2012, the Fourth Doctor instructed Sarah Jane Smith and Harry Sullivan to browse the net, at a Prague internet café, for any information on a Mr Drak. He later scolded them for not thinking of translating the words "Bojan Novak" and "Ctislav" into English while they were there. (PROSE: The Dragons of Prague)
