Samson was a student at Coal Hill School and a member of the Coal Hill Year 8 Gifted and Talented Group. He teased Bradley about his nut allergy. When the Twelfth Doctor and Clara Oswald ran after Maebh Arden, Danny and the rest of the Gifted and Talented Group followed them to make sure they were safe. Samson read a news article on his mobile phone which announced the government crews were deployed with defoliant agents that they were going to use on the trees that had covered the Earth. When the Doctor revealed that the trees were in fact protecting the Earth from the solar flare, instead of witnessing the event, the Gifted and Talented Group left the TARDIS because they missed their families.
