The Shadow People was an unproduced Doctor Who serial intended to conclude Season 7, replacing The Mists of Madness.
It was cowritten by Charlotte and Dennis Plimmer and was "seriously considered", but ultimately cancelled over pay disputes between the two writers and the BBC. In the end, its slot went to Inferno. (REF: The Seventies)
The basic premise involved a group of aliens projecting themselves as 'shadows' from across space to prepare Earth for an invasion. The Doctor discovered one of the devices they used to do this and was supposed to re-engineer it so that he could project himself to other planets in future seasons.
