Before Joseph Lidster was comissioned to write Master for Big Finish Productions, Mark Michalowski submitted a synopsis featuring the Master to Gary Russell called Dark Heart. It was set in an underground research facility on a planet called Righe. It featured the Seventh Doctor, Ace and Nyssa. Gary Russell said "it was a nice story, but not what I was looking for".
