Equilibrium was a novel pitched by Simon A. Forward, first to Virgin Books for their Missing Adventures line and then again to BBC Books for their Past Doctor Adventures line.

The novel would have featured the Third Doctor and Liz Shaw[1] in an adventure set between Inferno and Liz's departure from UNIT. It would have been a prequel to the Eighth Doctor Adventures novel Emotional Chemistry. Grigoriy Bugayev was originally created for the novel, which would have depicted Bugayev's meeting with the Third Doctor referred to in Emotional Chemistry. [2]
