Roundheads would be the only novel commissioned, but Gatiss still hoped to write the other two stories and so included in it a brief nod to the alternate timeline of Cromwell's Dust. When Bill Baggs later asked Gatiss for scripts for Audio Adventures in Time & Space, Gatiss repurposed Cromwell's Dust into the audio story Republica, renaming it to avoid the BBC's attention.
