Nightmare Planet, also known as The Nightmare Planet was written by Dennis Spooner for Season 13. It was commissioned on 31 January 1975 and later dropped for unknown reasons.

The story would have concerned a planet where food and water are drugged to stop the population from being able to see the monsters that live on the planet alongside them. Punishment on the planet involves the drugs being withdrawn for a period of 24 hours.

It would have turned out that these monsters were illusions projected by the planet's psychic atmosphere, and that they could only cause harm so long as people believed they were real.[source needed]
