Gold had previously played an unnamed guitarist in an uncredited cameo in Voyage of the Damned [+]Loading...["Voyage of the Damned (TV story)"].
In an interview published shortly after The Devil's Chord aired, Russell T Davies, prodded on the fact that Murray Gold was credited as playing "himself", noted with a laugh[1]:
He existed in 1963. He is immortal and eternal, and will always be with us.
