The Automata was an unproduced story for Season 11 to be written by Robert Holmes. It would have been the opening episode of the season.
Holmes was commissioned to write a storyline for The Automata on 16 January 1973. It did not find favour with producer Barry Letts and script editor Terrance Dicks, however, and was rejected ten days later. Holmes was commissioned to write The Time Warrior instead. (REF: DWM 246, DWMSE 2)
