Beverly "Bev" Tarrant was an art thief who came to work at the Braxiatel Collection.

Biography

Early life

Bev was born in or around the 57th century. (AUDIO: The Judas Gift) Her mother, a society woman, had her learn how to play the violin as she wanted to have a talented daughter that she could show off. (PROSE: Hiding Places)

Life of crime

Hoping to sell it to a buyer on Coralee, Bev and her lover Rappell led an illegal salvage team in stealing the ziggurat on Kar-Charrat, unwittingly releasing a Dalek which wiped out all of the team bar her. She was injured and saved by the Seventh Doctor and Ace, whom she joined in investigating the Kar-Charratans. She was horrified when they took over Rappell's body and, once the Daleks were defeated, she departed in her spacecraft. (AUDIO: The Genocide Machine)

Bev stole a priceless idol and was chased by border police, in the course of which she burnt out her hyper-drive and ended up stranded on Duchamp 331. There she met the Doctor and Ace again and gave them her assistance, in the course of which she saved the life of Elsa Salvadori, only for her to sacrifice herself to the Krill. She joined the time travellers in the TARDIS, setting off an alarm in a 20th century art gallery that they visited before dropping Bev off. (AUDIO: Dust Breeding)

The Doctor eventually "dumped" Bev in the 26th century where she resumed her life as a thief for almost a decade, striking up a number of brief partnerships with others in her line of work. (AUDIO: The Judas Gift) Circa 2601, she made an attempt to raid a tomb on Bellotron and met Bernice Summerfield and Commander Ryan, helping them escape the Brill and being impersonated by a Rutan. Afterwards, Bev and Benny sat down to discuss their respective experiences with the Doctor. (AUDIO: Professor Bernice Summerfield and the Bellotron Incident)

The Collection

Axis occupation

This section's awfully stubby.

Please help by adding some more information.

Bev began working at the Braxiatel Collection (PROSE: The Fall) and was known to be the best pilot there. (PROSE: Passing Storms) She became a member of the resistance, plotting against the Fifth Axis and undergoing torture after she was captured. She was rescued by Joseph the Porter. (AUDIO: Death and the Daleks)

Post-liberation

After the occupation Bev became a member of the staff, serving at first as a P.A. to Irving Braxiatel himself, before eventually replacing him as Director of the Collection when the Time Lord was forced to leave. (AUDIO: The Tartarus Gate)

Her tenure as Director was fraught with problems and many of the staff felt she was not up for the job, which was not entirely her own fault, since the Collection was tied to Braxtiatel in ways no one really understood. (PROSE: Work in Progress) When there was an infection on the Collection she strode around the collection naked due to the heat. She had to negotiate with many different powers. She used the infection as a way to intimated the other powers by thinking they were debauched and kissed Benny in front of them. (AUDIO: Summer of Love) She tried to step into his shoes and negotiate a truce between the warring Draconians and the Mim, but was unsuccessful, eventually forced to accept the help of the Collection's founder. (AUDIO: The Judas Gift)

Off the Collection

Bev's time at the Collection came to an abrupt end when the Draconians sent an diplomatic party to supposedly foster an alliance with them. It was actually a ploy to deliver a ceremonial item. The item, a gauntlet later revealed to be the "Judas Gift", was presented to Bev and after putting it on, she fell into a brief coma and was forced to relive her memories of her time as a thief. She had fallen in love with a man named Ethan, only to be betrayed by him, and she had left him to die. It was revealed that the Draconian ambassador, Kothar, had familial ties with Ethan and was seeking revenge. Bev faked her own death aboard a shuttle and escaped the Collection, leaving a farewell message to everyone aboard the Collection, warning them that someone was using the Draconians for their own ends. She left a goodbye for her lover, Adrian Wall, asking Bernice to meet her at a specific place. Braxiatel discovered this message but neglected to pass it on, since it was his own manipulations that were affecting the whole Draconian/Mim conflict. (AUDIO: The Judas Gift)

Bev assisted Bernice Summerfield in fleeing the Collection with her son Peter, following the death of her husband Jason Kane. (AUDIO: The Wake)

She rescued Adrian Wall, who was being held captive by Braxiatel, and the two went into business together. She sent Bernice a message to help on a daring raid on Vingus Bank and Braxiatel's personal vault. She had to pretend to be a pornographic actress to get in the bank. In the safety deposit box, she was almost caught but her role playing meant she could think of the number of the actress' box. She was the notorious criminal the Matted Stoat and was raiding utility firms in order to cut the bank off to get into the vault. (AUDIO: Glory Days)

Bernice looks at a hologram of Bev while on Javarda. (WC: Dead and Buried)

When Braxiatel's mechanoids began kidnapping people around the galaxy Bev joined Adrian, Bernice, Peter and Robyn in their search for the truth. They traced the kidnappings back to a hidden location on the Moon and discovered that Doggles was responsible for controlling the mechanoids. Bev was knocked unconscious by Robyn when the android discovered what Braxiatel's plans were. (AUDIO: Resurrecting the Past)

Bev then took a responsibility on the Collection too look after the refugees so that they were protected from the Deindum. She with Adrian, Benny, Peter and Doggles went to the Deindum ship to rescue Brax from their clutches so that they could use his knowledge to defeat them. (AUDIO: Escaping the Future)

In the wake of the Deindum War, Bev and Adrian got married, spending their honeymoon on Valentine's World. They set up and became the leaders of a refugee camp on the planet. She later became pregnant with several Killoran pups. (PROSE: Adorable Illusion)

Appearance

Bev had scars from her torture by the Fifth Axis. She grew her hair and fingernails in order to hide them. (PROSE: Misplaced Spring)
