John Cleese was an entertainer and comedian associated with Monty Python.

Guy Adams once remarked that his boss Mike believed he and John Cleese had been separated at birth, after mentioning a Monty Python sketch. (PROSE: Timeless)

At one point, Cleese encountered the Doctor and formed a friendship with him. This was referenced by the Sixth Doctor, stating that "John and Connie" were good friends of his, in response to Melanie Bush quoting Cleese. The Doctor believed Cleese based one or two characters on him. (PROSE: Spiral Scratch)
