Other information[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Nicholas Briggs voiced many Doctor Who aliens (Daleks, Cybermen, Ice Warriors, et al.) in Big Finish audio stories, and later in the TV series. This has included recurring individuals of those races, such as the Black Dalek Leader and Dalek Prime.
- Tom Baker and Matthew Waterhouse are the only actors to reprise their roles at Big Finish, after they were briefly recast for one story in the past.
- David Bradley who played William Hartnell in An Adventure in Space and Time (2013) and was cast as the First Doctor in The Doctor Falls and Twice Upon a Time (2017), voiced the Doctor in The First Doctor Adventures from 2017 to 2021. He did so simultaneously with Peter Purves, who continued to voice the First Doctor in The Early Adventures. When Stephen Noonan became the First Doctor in later First Doctor Adventures audios beginning in 2022, Bradley reprised a version of the First Doctor in the Thirteenth Doctor's mind in that year's TV story The Power of the Doctor.
- Nicholas Courtney, Caroline John and Elisabeth Sladen are the only actors to reprise their roles at Big Finish, before they were recast in 2019, 2019, and 2021, following their deaths in 2011, 2012, and 2011, respectively. Daisy Ashford, Caroline's daughter, took over the role of Liz Shaw, while Sadie Miller, Elizabeth's daughter, took over the role of Sarah Jane Smith. The Big Finish crew have stated that, had Ashford and Miller declined to take on these roles, the characters would not have been brought back. (BFX: Primord, Return of the Cybermen)
- William Russell and Carole Ann Ford are the only actors to reprise their on-screen roles and be recast while still active at Big Finish. Although the cast of An Adventure in Space and Time took over for The First Doctor Adventures, Ford and Russell returned to voice their characters in Susan's War (2020). Ford and her successor, Claudia Grant, both appeared as Susan Foreman in Tick-Tock World (2019). Ford also returned to voice Susan herself in After the Daleks (2021). After Susan's War, Russell appeared on television as Ian in 2022's The Power of the Doctor.
- Jon Culshaw was cast as three major Doctor Who characters: briefly as the Fourth Doctor in 2006, and also as Kamelion and as Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in 2019.
- Culshaw was also cast as Kiy Uvanov for his appearances in The Robots; while the character's original actor, Russell Hunter, never voiced Uvanov for Big Finish, he did reprised the role in the Kaldor City audio series produced by Magic Bullet Productions, before his death in 2004.
- Mark Seven was played by Alan Cox in The Destroyers (2010), and later Joe Sims took over the role in the Dalek Universe series, starting from 2021.
- Alien members of the Galactic Council from Mission to the Unknown (1965) were recast for their next appearance in The Daleks' Master Plan (1965-1966), and then recast again for Big Finish - with Christopher Naylor as Malpha and Sentreal, Timothy Speyer as Beaus and Francesca Hunt as Celation in The Perfect Prisoners (2019).
