Fear of Light was an unproduced Lethbridge-Stewart short story by Jim Mortimore. It was a sequel to The Web of Fear featuring the Brigadier and Dr Anne Travers.

After commissioning the novel Feralia from Mortimore for Lethbridge-Stewart season 2, editor Andy Frankham-Allen invited Mortimore to write a 2,000 word short story to be published online in January 2015 as an introduction to the series. On 31 December 2014, Fear of Light was announced by Candy Jar Books.[1] The first draft came in at 10,000 words, and Candy Jar agreed to print it as a novella with an abridged version to be released online. The final draft of the story came at 7,200 words. However, it was cancelled due to Mortimore's "inflexibility" in refusing to rewrite part of the story to adhere to the house style.[2]

In 2020, Mortimore released Fear of Light: An Adventure in Time and Space, an expanded, novella-length "Director's Cut" of the short story. It was a prequel to his Blood Heat Second Iteration and set in the same Collapsing Universe.[3]
