Out of the Deep was the sixth story of the tenth season of Big Finish Productions' Short Trips series. Featuring the First Doctor, it was written by John Pritchard and read by Peter Purves, in character as Steven Taylor.

Drawn to Mesopotamia in the 1850s by an unknown signal, the Doctor and Steven cross paths with an archaeological expedition looking for one of the world’s first cities, Eridu. Darkness sits at the heart of Eridu, an ancient evil that is stirring.

- The story is written in the first person and read from Steven's perspective, leading to an end product similar in structure to The Companion Chronicles.
- With the Crimea War ongoing, and Jessica referring to Florence Nightingale's part in the war, this story must be set between 1854 (when Florence arrived) and the end of the war in 1856.
