- This story was recorded on 17 October 2018 at WiseBuddah.
- The title of the story is a reference to the 1968 television play The Year of the Sex Olympics.
Continuity[[edit] | [edit source]]
- The Doctor learns Venusian aikido whilst in the company of Jamie and Victoria, an event the Sixth Doctor mentioned in AUDIO: Voyage to Venus.
- Various portrayals of Shanghorns have occurred in Doctor Who media. The Shanghorn which appears in this story matches the description seen in AUDIO: Voyage to Venus.
- The Doctor meets the Venusian nuns, first mentioned as inventing Venusian aikido in TV: The Ghost Monument.
- The Venusians in this story are five-armed, as were the Venusians in PROSE: Venusian Lullaby. While other aspects of their appearance differ, Year of the Drex Olympics accounts for this by describing an array of different Venusian morphologies. Another Venusian species, the Thraskins, have a completely different form altogether, as detailed in AUDIO: Voyage to Venus.
