War (The Only Good Dalek)
If a more specific name than "War" isn't out there this page should be renamed "War (The Outlaw Planet)" since the big SSS-Dalek war first appeared in The Dalek Outer Space Book, more specifically The Outlaw Planet.
Talk about it here.
A war between humans, defended by the Space Security Service, and the Daleks had raged for a hundred years into the 41st century. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek) The Dalek Empire was originally the Dalek faction that fought in the conflict, (PROSE: The Outlaw Planet, COMIC: Sara Kingdom: Space Security Agent, AUDIO: The Destroyers) but the New Dalek Paradigm, from their point of view, later re-engaged the fighting. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek) To the humans, it seemed to be the same war. (PROSE: The Outlaw Planet, COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)
History[[edit] | [edit source]]
Background[[edit] | [edit source]]
Over the course of the five hundred years leading up to the year 4000, the Daleks were known by Earth to have seized control of over seventy planets in Ninth Galactic System and forty more in the constellation of Miros. (TV: Mission to the Unknown) Human historians postdating the Last Great Time War understood what the limited observation technology of the Earth Empire did not, that the Daleks had conquered the Second, Third and Ninth Galaxies in a war across the Outer Galaxies. (PROSE: Dalek: The Astounding Untold History of the Greatest Enemies of the Universe)
Early conflicts[[edit] | [edit source]]
In the 40th century, the Daleks turned their attention back to Earth, coming into frequent conflict with the Space Security Service (SSS) charged with maintaining humanity's security. (PROSE: The Outlaw Planet, COMIC: Sara Kingdom: Space Security Agent, AUDIO: The Destroyers) This included an invasion of Earth which met with defeat due to the actions of SSS agent Sara Kingdom. (COMIC: The Brain Tappers)
Scrutinising Dalek history, the Time Lords became aware of early studies of humanity's skirmishes with the Daleks including the SSS, which they corroborated with the SSS's known involvement in the 4000 incident. "Meticulous research" into the available documentation revealed to them "special Dalek forces" faced by the SSS, including a red Dalek leader and a subordinate with a red dome. (PROSE: Dalek Combat Training Manual)
In 3994, humanity retook Caridos from the Daleks, capturing some of their Robomen. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)
For her first mission, agent Sara Kingdom was sent to divert the plans of the Golden Dalek from Earth to Barzilla by spreading news of its gold mines amongst Dalek spies. She was successful and the Dalek forces were annihilated, an achievement for which she was praised. (PROSE: The Outlaw Planet) Early in her career, she was sent on a mission with fellow SSS agents Jason Corey, Mark Seven and her brother David, who was kidnapped by the Daleks. (AUDIO: The Destroyers)
Sara was sent to Vara to rescue the kidnapped Professor Lomberg and thus keep the secret of the formula of a new metal from the Daleks, who could use it for a new outer casing which would make them unstoppable. She sneaked into the Dalek slave camps, found the professor and helped him give the Daleks the wrong formula, causing an explosion and foiling the Daleks' plans. (COMIC: Sara Kingdom: Space Security Agent)
Charged with investigating the leak of confidential information jeopardising the security of Earth strategic bases, Sara discovered that the upgraded Golden Emperor was able to read thoughts through radio waves. She used Earth's scientists as bait whilst human forces attacked and wiped out the Emperor's fleet. (COMIC: The Brain Tappers) Mark Seven wrote a file about the mission which Mavic Chen consulted when he and Bret Vyon unexpectedly met a future version of Sara in 3999, when she was supposed to be stationed on Venus. As a result of her older self's actions, Sara received a surprise promotion and was re-assigned to Earth. (AUDIO: The Guardian of the Solar System)
At the Fall of Pythagoran, Tranter received a field promotion. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek) At the Siege of Logario, Tranter was reported killed but was actually captured by the Daleks. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)
Station 7 had records of the early Skaro City Daleks and the Special Weapons Dalek. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)
Escalation into the Great War[[edit] | [edit source]]
- Main article: Time Destructor Incident
In 4000 the Black Dalek initiated a master plan to assemble the Time Destructor at Kembel for a new invasion of Earth's solar system. Through the efforts of SSS agents Marc Cory, Bret Vyon and Sara Kingdom along with the First Doctor the Daleks' invasion fleet was destroyed along with the Time Destructor itself. (TV: Mission to the Unknown, The Daleks' Master Plan)
The Daleks' plot was exposed, (PROSE: The Mutation of Time) leading to the Great War. (PROSE: The Evil of the Daleks)
Station 7[[edit] | [edit source]]
Station 7 was a space station which housed Dalek-related technology and prisoners recovered by humanity during the war, where they would await research to help the humans understand Dalek technology and develop ways of fighting back against them. Among the artefacts collected were a Mechonoid shell and a whole section of the petrified jungle taken from the ruins of Skaro, home to a varga plants, a magnedon and a Slyther. Taken prisoner were a group of Robomen taken from Caridos, Ogrons from the so-called frontier worlds and a collection of disarmed Daleks. Captured Dalek equipment included transport units, transolar discs, burned out casings and weaponry, and a scoutship that ran aground on the zeg-radiation belt of the Hermes cluster.
By the time the Eleventh Doctor and Amy had arrived, the station's scientists had already found the technology to be worthless since only the Daleks could use it. The station was guarded by agents of the Space Security Service. It was destroyed in a Dalek attack when the Daleks began to search for the Abomination, a Dalek that had been genetically pacified by Professor Weston. (COMIC: The Only Good Dalek)
Aftermath and legacy[[edit] | [edit source]]
In the pre-Time War universe, the Daleks were eventually embroiled in a war against the Movellans. By that time, the Space Security Service was succeeded by the Earth Protection Corps as protectors of humanity and Earth, which was engaged against both the Daleks and the Movellans.
