A Doctor Who stage play by Ben Aaronovitch and Andrew Cartmel titled either World War[1] or War World was planned in 1988.[2]. Cartmel created the Metatraxi aliens for this story. Its story featured many locations and aliens, centring on the Seventh Doctor and his companion Mallory stopping a Dalek plot to kidnap a 1940s criminal named McBride and turn him into a War Leader computer to lead the Daleks against the Metatraxi.[2] Due to budget reasons, it was eventually replaced by Terrance Dicks's The Ultimate Adventure.[1][3]
