Shield of the Jötunn was the two hundred and sixth story in Big Finish's monthly range. It was written by Ian Edginton and featured Colin Baker as the Sixth Doctor and Miranda Raison as Constance Clarke.

- The Doctor and Constance arrive in Arizona on 13 July, 2029, "a Sunday", whereas in the real world, that date will actually fall on a Friday. However, this is consistent with the claim in TV: The War Machines that 20 July 1966 fell on a Monday when in the real world it was a Saturday.
- This story's director, Louise Jameson, makes a cameo appearance as the Völva.
