The Last Post was the fourth story of the seventh series in The Companion Chronicles audio range. It was produced by Big Finish Productions. It was written by James Goss and featured Liz Shaw.

People are dying. Just a few, over a period of months... but the strange thing is that each person received a letter predicting the date and time of their death.
Throughout her time as the Doctor's assistant, Liz Shaw has been documenting these passings.
Her investigation ultimately uncovers a threat that could lead to the end of the world, but this time Liz has someone to help her.

According to David Richardson, she was very ill at the time of recording but was still determined to see it through. She even discussed future plans for another story with Rowena Cooper, who John had recommended for the part of Emily Shaw. (BFX: The Cloisters of Terror) Plans for this future storyline proceeded, but were ultimately shelved upon John's death. (BFX: The Last Post) Seven years later, her daughter Daisy Ashford would step into the role, starting with Primord.
