Unitaria was a tyrannical republic on Earth in the 23rd century. It was made up of several conquered nations and ruled by the Commander. The regime was eventually toppled when the governor of one area of the nation, known as the Examiner, was killed by a group of rebels, eventually leading to the crumbling of authority and the gaining of independence by the conquered nations. The rebellion was recognised in Vicki Pallister's time as a moment of great importance.
