War of the Daleks was a story proposed by John Peel for the planned 27th season of Doctor Who. It was intended to conclude the long-running Davros/Dalek story arc which had been a feature of the 1980s Dalek stories and to bring back Skaro following its destruction in Remembrance of the Daleks. When the show was cancelled in 1989, Peel worked on a novelised version of the story and put forward the idea for the Virgin New Adventures but it was not accepted. It was eventually accepted as part of the BBC Eighth Doctor Adventures starring the Eighth Doctor and Sam Jones and was released on 6 October 1997, where it was met with mixed reactions.[1]
