In 1964, both Peri Brown and Melanie Bush, two companions of the Sixth Doctor, were born.

Doctor X in an Amazing Adventure in Space was published. It was the first book about the television series Doctor X and was very rare. (PROSE: In Search of Doctor X)

On 13 July, Maria Jackson broke free of the Trickster's Graske servant and arrived on this date. A few minutes later, thirteen-year-old Sarah Jane Smith's best friend Andrea Yates fell off a pier and drowned. The Trickster appeared and coaxed Andrea to switch places with Sarah Jane, creating an alternate timeline where she died instead. After spending over forty years in the altered timeline, Andrea revoked her deal with the Trickster and allowed herself to perish once again, restoring the original course of the timeline. Also by this time, the Beatles had sold out the first leg of their United Kingdom tour. (TV: Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane?) They were still touring in November. (PROSE: In Search of Doctor X)

July - December

On 22 July, Melanie Bush was born. (PROSE: Spiral Scratch)

In October, the Labour Party defeated the Conservatives in the United Kingdom general election. The former's leader Harold Wilson became the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, succeeding Sir Alec Douglas-Home. James Callaghan was appointed Chancellor of the Exchequer. (AUDIO: State of Emergency) The Seventh Doctor, who had been elected as an independent member of Parliament using the alias "John Rutherford" in May 1963 on a platform of nuclear disarmament, stood down at this election. Also in October, a German U-boat which was patrolling the English Channel in 1943 was sent forward in time, where it threatened to torpedo the Isle of Wight ferry. Sir Toby Kinsella of the Intrusion Counter-Measures Group ordered Group Captain Ian Gilmore and his squad to investigate and render assistance to the personnel of the nearby Lanchester Naval Base. In October, an aeroplane which left New York City with a crew of eleven and hundreds of passengers landed in London with no one aboard, not even the pilot. The matter was investigated by Professor Rachel Jensen of the Intrusion Counter-Measures Group. (AUDIO: State of Emergency)

15 November, according to her passport, was the birth date of Perpugilliam "Peri" Brown. (TV: Planet of Fire)

On 23 November, Joan Wright remembered the day Barbara Wright disappeared, one year prior. She spent time in Barbara's room and then settled herself in bed with a crossword and a cup of cocoa. She eventually fell asleep, and dreamt that she was chatting with Barbara in the kitchen over tea, and that Barbara told her she was all right, she was travelling, and she would be home very soon. An archaeological dig in Alaska led by Tulung's father accidentally unearthed a Permian fossil. It revived and attacked them. While Shaun Brett's father fled, Tulung's father used dynamite to destroy the creature.
