From her birth in 1820 to her death in 1898, Florence Sundvik was an inhabitant of the village of Maiden's Point. Mary Eliza Millington was born in the village, but died four days after her birth in 1898. (TV: The Curse of Fenric)

In 1893, Winifred Gillyflower founded the community of Sweetville in the county. The Eleventh Doctor and Clara Oswald investigated a series of deaths in the area, which he referred to as "the Crimson Horror". (TV: The Crimson Horror)

In 1914, Hawkswick Hall in Hawkswick, North Yorkshire was converted into a home for shell-shocked soldiers. (PROSE: Casualties of War)

In 2007, when ghosts began appearing all over the world, they also appeared in Yorkshire. James wrote an SMS to Ghostwatch and asked them why they were always filming in London. He told them that there were ghosts in Yorkshire too. The ghosts turned out to be Cybermen. (WC: Ghostwatch)

Soon after regenerating, the Thirteenth Doctor met her companions Graham O'Brien, Ryan Sinclair and Yasmin Khan in the Peak District, in 2018, and returned with them to Sheffield. After accidentally teleporting her friends to outer space, (TV: The Woman Who Fell to Earth) the Doctor eventually managed to return them to Sheffield, (TV: Arachnids in the UK) where they returned on a number of occasions.
