The Schizoid Earth was the second novel in the Lethbridge-Stewart series, released by Candy Jar Books in 2015.
Publisher's summary
Lethbridge-Stewart was supposed to be in the mountains of the east, but things didn't quite go according to plan. On the eve of war, something appeared in the sky; a presence that blotted out the moon. Now it has returned, and no battle plan can survive first contact with this enemy.
Why do the ghosts of fallen soldiers still fight long-forgotten battles against living men? What is the secret of the rural English town of Deepdene? Lethbridge-Stewart has good reason to doubt his own sanity, but is he suffering illness or injury, or is something more sinister going on?
Plagued by nightmares of being trapped in a past that never happened, Lethbridge-Stewart must unravel the mystery of a man ten years out of his time; a man who cannot possibly still exist.

Story notes
- This book contains a foreward by Amanda Haisman.
- The "Russian scientist" who helps Anne and Edward Travers David A. McIntee's own creation "Koschei", using a variant spelling of the alias. Interestingly, his description as a "stocky man, with a short dark beard that was peppered with grey", and as already being an acquaintance of Alistair's, suggests that this is Koschei at some point after the events of The Dark Path — that is, after he became the Master. However, because the book only had McIntee's license to work with, the character's more famous aspect as the villainous Master could not be used.
- This book replaced Horror of Det-Sen as the second book in the series.
Continuity
- This serves as a prequel to TV: Inferno, showing the origin of the Brigade Leader Alastair Lethbridge-Stewart, who comes from a reality in between the Inferno Earth and the normal Earth. In this story he is only fifteen years old, and his journey from one reality to the other costs him his left eye. His first name is spelt Alastair rather than Alistair.
- Colonel Lethbridge-Stewart is sent to look into the upcoming concert of Ed Hill, the Revolution Man, at Wembley Stadium. (PROSE: Revolution Man)
- On the Inferno Earth, it was a young Alistair who died at Golitha Falls, and not James. (PROSE: The Forgotten Son)
- On the Inferno Earth, Professor Travers died in 1935 during his expedition to the Himalayas, and not John Mackay. (PROSE: The Abominable Snowmen)
- On the Inferno Earth, Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart was not killed during the Second World War as that war never happened in this reality. By 1959, he is Director of External Security for the Republic of Great Britain. (PROSE: The Forgotten Son)
- Marianne Kyle appears in this book as a captain in the British Army. She would later reappear in PROSE: The Face of the Enemy after the events of TV: Inferno.
