Early history

Prussia was one of the allied nations which opposed Napoléon Bonaparte's French Empire in the Napoleonic Wars of the early 19th century. Following the Battle of Trafalgar, Napoleon defeated the Prussians and entered Berlin. Napoleon was later defeated at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815 by the British under the Duke of Wellington and the Prussians under Marshal Blucher. (PROSE: World Game)
In 1870, Prussia won the Franco-Prussian War against France. Prussia's victory was especially devastating for the French: it led to their Emperor, Napoleon III, being ousted, and the Second French Empire being replaced with the Third French Republic. (PROSE: World Game)
