The 38th issue of Doctor Who Weekly had a cover date of 3 July 1980. Its cover was the first since DWM 29 not to primarily feature an image from the comic strip.

  • The reprinted Dalek Tapes in this issue have heavily edited opening and closing captions.
  • There is no Dr Who's Time Tale this issue, even though the cover states "Four Great Comic Strips!"
  • The photograph of the Pirate Captain used on the cover is printed in reverse in accordance with graphic design rules to have figures facing to the centre and not facing off the cover. This explanation is given in DWM 43's Gallifrey Guardian.
  • Published every Thursday, this issue had a cover price of 12p (UK).
