The Doctor Who Magazine, formerly known as The Official Doctor Who Magazine, was published by Marvel Comics Ltd, began with issue 99. This was the final re-naming of the magazine before it became known, as it is today known, as the Doctor Who Magazine. The final issue under this title was issue 106.

Cefn Ridout became editor of the magazine with issue 99, taking over from Alan McKenzie.

April's Issue 99 was the only issue during this period to be 65 pence in the United Kingdom. For issue 100 in March 1985, the magazine was priced at one pound in the United Kingdom. For the following issue (101) in June it dropped back to 75 pence in the United Kingdom. It remained at this price until the end of 1985.
