The Official Doctor Who Magazine, formerly Doctor Who Monthly began with issue 85 in February 1985 published by Marvel Comics Ltd. It continued to be branded under this title through to issue 98. In April 1985 with DWM 99 the magazine's name was shortened to The Doctor Who Magazine.

Alan McKenzie continued to be the magazine's editor throughout this period, with Cefn Ridout becoming editor on issue 99.

From February's issue through to issue 92 in September 1984 the price remained at 60 pence in the United Kingdom. With issue 93 the price rose to 65 pence in the UK, it remained at this price through to April 1985.
