Story notes

  • This episode was incorrectly entitled Cyber War and Enemies of a Time Lord.
  • Many old enemies have been confirmed to appear in the episode, whether there to play an enemy part is still to be confirmed. The list of enemies include the Daleks, the Cybus Cybermen, the Sontarans, the Judoon, the Slitheen, the Hoix, the Weevils, the Uvodni, the Sycorax, the Silurians, the Autons, the Roboform and the Blowfish. [10]
  • Amy Pond's mother will appear, played by actress Karen Westwood[11]. Her Aunt Sharon will also appear, played by Susan Vildler.
  • The title is most likely a reference to the TARDIS's explosion on 26/06/2010. (DW: Flesh and Stone)
  • The TARDIS will be destroyed as revealed in the official synopsis.
  • Both the date of the in-universe 'unidentified explosion' and the real-world date of broadcast is also 26/06/2010. This is most likely intentional.
  • A new Dalek will be seen, a Stone Dalek. Or, less absurdly, a Dalek will be turned to stone.

Rumours

  • Some fans speculate that the unknown, sinister voice heard in the previous episode was, in fact, Omega.
  • Original Cybermen will return. They didn't appear in DW:The Pandorica Opens.
  • The Slitheen will return. They didn't appear in the former episode, but were mentioned.
  • It is rumoured that either the Timoreen, the Ha'rik, or the Skarkish will appear – primarily because these were all listed as "new aliens" to appear in Series 5 and have not appear
  • Many fans have speculated that during this episode, the Doctor will travel back along his own time stream to the events of Flesh and Stone, as during that episode, after he left, jacketless, Amy to go find River Song, he suddenly reappeared wearing a jacket (a different one, at that) and a different watch and told her to "remember" something. The fans believe that was a future Doctor (from this story) going back to help Amy remember him, stopping him from being wiped from the timeline.
  • Similarly, some fans believe that the shadowy figure seen in Amelia's house in 1996 during The Eleventh Hour was the Doctor from this story, going back along his own time stream.
