Star Wars is a multimedia franchise created by George Lucas which began on 12 November 1976 with the novelisation of the original Star Wars film, later referred to as Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, despite the film being released on 25 May 1977. The franchise is owned by Lucasfilm Ltd, who have since been aquired by the Walt Disney Company.

Crossovers[[edit] | [edit source]]

Frobisher and C.Y.R.I.L. in Time & Time Again [+]Loading...["Time & Time Again (comic story)"].

Although the two series do not often cross paths officially, they have nevertheless had a few stories with elements of the Star Wars universe bleeding into Doctor Who and its expanded universe.

Perhaps the most significant of these connections was the appearances of C.Y.R.I.L., a fictional editor for Marvel UK's Star Wars magazines, in the Doctor Who Magazine comic stories Once Upon a Time-Lord [+]Loading...["Once Upon a Time-Lord (comic story)"] and Time & Time Again [+]Loading...["Time & Time Again (comic story)"].

Danny Douglas promotes the upcoming appearances of Doctor Who and a Star Wars Rebels event on Disney XD. (TV: Breaking News! That Hasn't Broken Yet! (part 1) [+]Loading...{"part":"1","1":"Breaking News! That Hasn't Broken Yet! (TV story)"})

Much later, in the 2015 Disney XD promotional video Breaking News! That Hasn't Broken Yet! [+]Loading...["Breaking News! That Hasn't Broken Yet! (TV story)"], an official reference was made to a "Star Wars Rebels event" - that turning out to be The Siege of Lothal - which would be releasing that summer, alongside reference to Doctor Who's upcoming appearance on the channel.

Much more often than the above official crossovers are unofficial references and appearances by elements of the Star Wars universe in the Doctor Who universe. These range from in-universe references where the subjects seem to "really exist" in the Doctor Who universe, to out-of-universe references to the Star Wars series as fiction. Some of these references were officially noted in the doctorwho.tv article "The Star Wars References You Missed in Doctor Who".[1]

In the Doctor Who Magazine comic story Party Animals [+]Loading...["Party Animals (comic story)"], among the several cameos of different characters, Marvel-owned or not, Darth Vader appeared as an attendee at Bonjaxx's birthday party, talking with a Ferengi. This was colourised in The Incomplete Death's Head #12.

In the Doctor Who season 26 TV story Survival [+]Loading...["Survival (TV story)"], Ace learns from Ange that their mutual friend Flo married a "brain-dead plumber" whom they had nicknamed "Darth Vader", a further reference to the character.

Shistavanens are shown to exist in the Whoniverse in PROSE: Placebo Effect [+]Loading...["Placebo Effect (novel)"].

A child cosplaying as Boba Fett in Selfie [+]Loading...["Selfie (comic story)"].

In the BBC New Series Adventures novel Forever Autumn [+]Loading...["Forever Autumn (novel)"], the Tenth Doctor tells Martha Jones that Jar Jar Binks's clan were "...good people...very hospitable."

In the series 5 minisode Meanwhile in the TARDIS [+]Loading...["Meanwhile in the TARDIS (home video)"], the Doctor compares himself to Yoda, who he refers to as "the little green one in Star Wars".

A child appears cosplaying as Boba Fett in the 2015 Convention Special, in the comic story Selfie [+]Loading...["Selfie (comic story)"]. Another individual cosplaying as the character appears in the Reeltime Pictures home video Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor [+]Loading...["Sil and the Devil Seeds of Arodor (home video)"], albeit without the helmet.

"DeLorean" in Aurebesh. (TV: Face the Raven [+]Loading...["Face the Raven (TV story)"]).

On a poster in the Trap Street in Face the Raven [+]Loading...["Face the Raven (TV story)"], the Star Wars alphabet of Aurebesh is used to spell out "Delorean", which is itself a reference to Back to the Future, another popular sci-fi film series.

In the audio story Shockwave [+]Loading...["Shockwave (TWM audio story)"], Narvin tells Livia that his grain stores are infested with womp rats.

A Dalek makes a cameo appearance in the Star Wars Tales comic strip Fett Club.

In the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Bombad Jedi", Padmé Amidala is locked up in a prison block managed by an octagonal console, which highly resembles the classic TARDIS control console. In the third episode of Andor, a room on a CIS ship looks very similar to the TARDIS console room.
