Africa, formerly Afric, (TV: The Shakespeare Code [+]Loading...["The Shakespeare Code (TV story)"]) was the second largest continent on the planet Earth, (PROSE: Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...["Doctor Who: The Encyclopedia (2011 reference book)"]) whilst the Fifth Doctor identified Asia and the singular America as two of Earth's largest continents. Africa was part of all four Hemispheres of Earth. The Equator, an imaginary line which divided the Earth into the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, ran through the continent, as did the prime meridian which divided the Earth into the Western and Eastern Hemispheres.
