List of actors reprising their roles at Big Finish
This is a list of actors who have reprised their roles from televised Doctor Who or one of its spin-offs in Big Finish Productions audio stories.
Ralph Watson as Captain Ben Knight holds the record for the longest time between debut on television and reprisal of the role at Big Finish. The character's debut in the first part of The Web of Fear in 1968 and return in The Web of Time in 2019 for The Diary of River Song: Series Six were separated by over fifty-one years.
In contrast, David Bradley as the First Doctor holds the record for the shortest time between debut and reprisal. In 2013, Bradley played William Hartnell in An Adventure in Space and Time but did not officially appear as the Doctor until the cliffhanger in the closing moments of The Doctor Falls on 1 July 2017. He appeared on audio on Christmas Day that year in The First Doctor Adventures: Volume One, the same day as his first full television appearance in Twice Upon a Time, less than six months after his television debut.

- Claudia Grant, Jamie Glover and Jemma Powell, who played Carole Ann Ford, William Russell and Jacqueline Hill in An Adventure in Space and Time, voiced Susan Foreman, Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright in The First Doctor Adventures and The Diary of River Song: Series Six with David Bradley as the First Doctor. Powell also voiced Barbara in The Early Adventures opposite Ford, Russell and Maureen O'Brien.
- Jackie Lane, who played Dodo Chaplet, was the only living Classic Who companion to not reprise her role for Big Finish since Doctor Who audios started in 1999. As of her death in 2021, actress Lauren Cornelius has been playing the role of Dodo.
- John Line played John Ladiver in the 1965 stage play The Curse of the Daleks and in 2008 returned to the production, portraying the older Professor Vanderlyn in the audio adaptation.
- Nicholas Courtney voiced Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart in Big Finish audios until his death in 2011. Since 2019, impressionist Jon Culshaw has been playing the role of the Brigadier.
- In 2003's Zagreus, archive audio of Jon Pertwee was used for a Third Doctor cameo in the story. Since 2013, the Third Doctor has been voiced by Tim Treloar.
- Caroline John voiced Liz Shaw in Big Finish audios until her death in 2012. Since 2021, her daughter Daisy Ashford has been playing the role of Liz.
- Elisabeth Sladen voiced Sarah Jane Smith only in her own Big Finish spin-off from 2002-2006. A week before her death in 2011, she and Tom Baker had signed a contract to begin recording the first series of The Fourth Doctor Adventures. Since 2021, her daughter Sadie Miller has been playing the role of Sarah Jane.
- Trevor Martin played the Doctor both in the 1974 stage play Doctor Who and the Daleks in Seven Keys to Doomsday and in the 2008 audio adaptation.
- Anthony Ainley was invited to reprise the role of the Tremas Master in 2001, but Big Finish were unable to reach a suitable deal with him.
- Kate O'Mara was due to reprise her role as the Rani in 2014, but died a few weeks before recording began. Siobhan Redmond was cast as the new incarnation of the Rani.
- Due to Fox owning the rights to Grace Holloway and Chang Lee from Doctor Who: The Movie, Daphne Ashbrook and Yee Jee Tso have been unable to reprise their roles of Grace and Chang for Big Finish. However, they have played multiple different roles for audios, most notably Ruth Matheson and Charlie Sato, respectively.
- Noel Clarke, Karen Gillan, Jenna Coleman, Matt Lucas, Pearl Mackie, Tosin Cole, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill and John Bishop have not yet reprised their roles of the Doctor's companions from the new series, although Clarke, Coleman and Lucas have played different roles or narrated audiobooks for other Big Finish stories. Clarke is not expected to reprise his role of Mickey Smith due to sexual misconduct allegations in 2021.
- Similarly, in May 2021, Big Finish were due to release a finished Torchwood - Monthly Range audio drama, Absent Friends, featuring David Tennant, John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd as their respective characters from Doctor Who and Torchwood. This release, however, was "delayed indefinetly" and removed from sale due to resurfaced video and interviews alluding to sexual misconduct on the sets of both shows by Barrowman, in light of the sexual misconduct allegations towards Clarke published the same month. Big Finish have not recorded any further releases with Barrowman since, reiterating in January 2022 there were no plans to release Absent Friends; it was replaced with another audio drama, The Black Knight. Only 1 minute of audio was publicly released of the audio drama via its trailer on 1 January 2021.
- Yasmin Bannerman, who in The End of the World played Jabe, voiced the Sapling Vale, a cutting of the character, in Death in the New Forest and The Skies of New Earth.
- Nicholas Briggs is the only actor who reprised his role from Big Finish audio stories in the TV series, having voiced the Daleks, Cybermen and Ice Warriors. Briggs also replaced Marnix Van Den Broeke as the Voice of The Silence from 2016 onwards. Subsequent appearances of The Silence since 2011 in the show have also had no voice acting bar stock sound effects
- Matt Smith, Peter Capaldi and Jodie Whittaker have not yet returned to voice the Eleventh, Twelfth and Thirteenth Doctors, respectively.
- In addition, Tennant has yet to play the Fourteenth Doctor in Big Finish audios, having already returned to portray the Tenth Doctor before he was even cast as the Fourteenth in The Power of the Doctor and the 60th Anniversary specials.
- Nina Toussaint-White, who in Let's Kill Hitler played Mels Zucker, the second incarnation of River Song, voiced the second incarnation of River's clone Brooke in The Diary of River Song: Series Three and Twelve.
- Sir John Hurt voiced the War Doctor in Big Finish audios until his death in 2017. Since 2021, Jonathon Carley has been playing a younger version of the War Doctor.
- In 2022, Colin Baker began playing The Curator, a different incarnation of Tom Baker's character from the 2013 episode The Day of The Doctor
- Due to scheduling conflicts, Katherine Kelly and Vivian Oparah have not been available to reprise their roles of Andrea Quill and Tanya Adeola following 2018's Class: The Audio Adventures Volumes 1 and 2. Since 2020, Dervla Kirwan and Joanna McGibbon have been playing the roles of Andrea and Tanya.
