'''Tales from the TARDIS'' reused previous comic strip material that had been used in other US [[Marvel Comics]] titles and were largely offered as cheaper filler material in the early issues which, when the editor was [[Dez Skinn]], were more comic strip story heavy.

'''Tales from the TARDIS''' were all presented as being related to the reader by the Fourth Doctor (with the opening and closing frames for each story being redrawn).

Tales from the TARDIS was a regular Doctor Who Weekly feature of comic adaptations of classic works of literary science fiction. The Tales ran from issues 1 through 29, after which they were replaced by Dr Who's Time Tales.

The comics, originally printed as full-length stories in Marvel Comics' American Marvel Classics Comics title, were broken up into five-page chapters, with the opening frames and narration of each chapter altered to include the Fourth Doctor. This was done by the Weekly's editor, Dez Skinn, as a cost-effective alternative to commissioning original comics material.
