So what's your rationale for starting an article about something that contains a spoiler, however mild, about the 50th anniversary? 00:34: Fri 31 May 2013</span>
:The only time limit on addressing violations of T:SPOIL is the point when the story is released in full.  So if this were 24 November, you'd have a point.  As it's not, you don't.

:People ask all the time, "Why didn't you say something at the time?" The answer is extraordinarily simpleIt's a big wiki, there's a lot going on, and there's no way that any automated process could have possibly detected this kind of policy violation.  I had to simply happen across itWhich I did today. If someone went to an obscure page and rewrote it to contain plausible — but 100 percent false — information, it's quite possible that it wouldn't be found for months.  Elapsed time doesn't make the action "okay".
Heya! Hope your new year has started off well, too!  Mine has begun busily, and with a ton of inclement weatherSo I'm running behind this week, along with it being a holiday week.  So I'm not sure I'll reasonably be able to make this somewhat artificial deadline of the 24th to have the forums back in place. Would you mind giving me until Monday, 1 February? I'd rather avoid adding a second step to the forum restoration process if at all possibleThanks! 02:55: Thu 20 Jan 2022</span>
:Hey :) I ran into another coupla roadblocks last week, and spo I couldn't get back over here. If y'all could give me another coupla weeks, I'd be super appreciative. 20:34: Tue 01 Feb 2022</span>

:This thing is an advertisement for a future story containing behind the scenes footage which mildly spoils the fiftieth anniversary story. And in the same way that trailers about future stories or interviews which contain info about future stories are not allowed, neither is this. The very location around which the report centres is a spoiler. So, it's going bye-bye, and I'm probably going to scrub all references to the name of thing, too. And I'll be locking down Strax Field Report, too. This little series has actually been quite detrimental to those wanting to keep themselves away from all spoilers. I can think of at least two pieces of information it gave out about future stories: the name of episode 14 and a location in episode 15. Well no more. It's an advert, pure and simple, and it's not eroding the surprises of the fiftieth any further on this wiki. 01:40: Fri 31 May 2013</span>
Completely confused
Hi! About those edits regarding Bessie (which I apologise for if it looked like vandalism, I just genuinely thought it was the case), I’m actually kinda confused - I don’t really remember any DWU TV stories that focus on fully sentient vehicles. I say TV stories since I’ve only really seen those, as they are usually more commercially available. Nor can I remember any other sentient DW vehicles as well, aside from the TARDIS. The only non-organic life forms I can think of with any sentience are the likes of the Autons, WOTAN, and K9. Could you direct me to any examples of sentient vehicles, as well as instances of vehicles narrating a DW story? Thanks! 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022</span>

Fandom updates
I think you need stop and bring it to the forum whether we want to start going down the road of religious classification of individuals.  :Category:Leaders of the early Christian church is one thing, because that's actually a cat about an organisation.  Actually identifying people by their religion is getting into a sensitive territory. Yes, we do have some stories that deal with Catholic/Protestant conflicts, but how finely do we want to take it?  Does the fact that there's a wedding in a Christian church in Father's Day mean those people are Christians?  I think I'd be more comfortable if we kept the category away from the general area of belief and more towards people who were officially a part of a church (or the heads of church-dominated states).  I think :Category:Protestants could swiftly become a matter of great speculation, and thereby fall foul of T:CAT NAME. Don't forget, too, that a lot of people fought on the Catholic or Protestant side not because it was their actual religious preference, but because the style of government a particular leader represented was to their liking.  And, yanno, whatcha gonna call Henry VIII, since he "converted" (to be super-generous to him) mid-life? 16:24: Wed 05 Jun 2013</span>

T:NOT WP, T:EVIL TWIN, and T:SPOIL ALLOW all combine to say that you shouldn't create a link to a spoiler, however mild, in the user talk namespace. Forget about the merits of your discussion—you shouldn't even have asked the question on my user talk page.  Please be careful in future that you don't ask questions which themselves contain or link to spoilers.

On the merits of the question, nothing is changed by what WP:DW are doing.  We're not going to be having a space that allows for spoilers for the 50th.  Surely you've by now seen the clear message at, amongst other places, MediaWiki:Community-corner.  17:37: Thu 06 Jun 2013</span>
Template:Wales crew update?
:I don't want to be shown it. I'm not sure why you're so insistent on having a page that's going to attract spoilers within the context of our "spoil the 50th anniversary and you'll be infinitely blocked" thing. But I'd urge you to please move on, rather than flogging dead horses.

:There is no interpretation of T:SPOIL ALLOW that will give you what you seek here.  The specials are genuinely specials.  Given what we know now, it/they is/are like The Five Doctors. It/they form their own production block and appear to be separately contracted from either series 7 or series 8.  Now, hey, maybe when we get the DWMSE review of series 8, we'll discover that actually it/they is/are a part of series 8.  But nothing suggests that right now.  At all. In the slightest. It's not a part of a series, so therefore there is no series page, so therefore there is no spoiler-allowed space.  That's why a temporary policy about the 50th anniversary was required, which is where there are several prominent messages saying "no spoilers anywhere about the 50th"
Sorry to bother you, but do you have any idea when the updates to the "Wales crew" template might be completed? I know I've put in a lot of requests; apologies for cluttering up the talk page! On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

Date pages
"The TARDIS prop appears to have the exterior used by the First Doctor as played by David Bradley in Twice Upon a Time, originally created as a replica of the William Hartnell-era TARDIS for the docu-drama An Adventure in Space and Time. The TARDIS console also carries over from these productions."
Please don't overwrite comic story release entries.  Since all media are equal, you shouldn't be giving more apparent attention to the comic stories than you do the televised ones.  Note the following diff:
* http://tardis.wikia.com/index.php?title=3_October_%28releases%29&diff=1495991&oldid=1495989
Thanks! 23:22: Mon 17 Jun 2013</span>

Not a problem
This is not correct. This exterior was commissioned from ThisPlanetEarth, who make TARDIS exterior replicas. The Box was in fact their Pertwee style box that was altered to more resemble the way the TARDIS looked in 1966, as the box was modified during the War Machines. Because of these modifications, the Adventures in Space and Time box would no longer resemble the box in 1966, being more based loosely on the 1963 prop.

Sure! I don't mind going back to the days that need splitting. These previous days were a short and necessary reprieve from editing to avoid eyestrain. I can provide sources and evidence for this.

::: Understandable. It's just numbers. I wish we could add pictures to liven the dates up, but they'd certainly get in the way. 21 October, huh?

Well, that's to be expected. Sometimes you break an egg when you're trying to organize the contents of a fridge, so to speak. Only this is a
repository of all the dates. I'll sharpen my attention so it doesn't (hopefully) happen again. I agree wholeheartedly on researching DW episodes. I'm almost done with Tennant's era and I went back to Pertwee for the classic experience. I'd check Hartnell and Troughton some more... if they weren't potholed to kingdom come by the missing episodes. --Thunderush <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 23:03, June 18, 2013 (UTC)

PA vs AFM
https://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=7920.0
The reason you're getting confused by some of our terminology pages is that they tend to be biased towards the new series. The production assistant page is almost certainly using a definition more applicable to BBC WAles than BBC Television Centre.

In DOC: So What Do You Do Exactly?, Graeme Harper helpfully gives equivalencies between 1963 and 2005 terms:
https://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=10227.0
1963 term
2005 term
Notes
Production assistant||1st AD||PA was, like 1st AD today, the right-hand-man of the director. So this is very definitely the highest rank next to producer/director — the highest below the line rank reporting to the director. PAs back in the day also were location scouts (and essentially a location manager too).
Director's assistant||Production assistant||Harper claims that the director's assistant, actually also was responsible for continuity, so it's kinda like they were continuity supervisior and production secretary combined. The position was not often credited because the DA was permanently attached to the production office, but you can see the credit on official paper work. For The Seeds of Doom, for instance, the DA was Briony Brown, who was there for quite a big chunk of the 1970s. The job eventually passed to Tom Baker's current wife — so, yes, two of Tom Baker's wives had a long-running, influential association with DW.
production unit manager||line producer/production manager||The highest ranking below the line individual reporting to the producer. Essentially the equivalent of the PA

Now, Harper doesn't define an AFM in this piece — he does elsewhere, but honestly I've forgotten quite where.  But we do see production paperwork here (and all over the classic section of the Doctor Who website).  Consistently, the PA is listed above the AFM.  And if you stop to think about it for a second, that makes sense.  The AFM is someone who is only present on recording days.  The PM, as the 1st AD, is there for the whole of pre-production, location filming, and studio recording.  In other words, the title means, "I'm the director's assistant for the whole of production."  Hope that helps!  03:27: Wed 19 Jun 2013</span>

It most certainly did help to gloss up all those pages! I nabbed a 1,500 edit badge along with the Graham Norton 250 edit award. Bumped me 10 points shy of #19, which wasn't hard to attain. Hey, I know the leaderboard looks like all fluff, but it's an attention-getter. You never know if someone special might show up on TARDIS wiki and strike a conversation. I'm an aspiring comic writer just now beginning to pen the first chapter of my story. Maybe it will help me prove my merits one day. And this show is wicked good inspiration. --Thunderush <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 18:40, June 19, 2013 (UTC)
How is a thief not a crook?

Update on days
When you have time
Very good progress indeed!  On comics, you're not supposed to "know".  You're supposed to just calculate.  I think you'll find a comprehensive list at a couple of places around the net, though. Altered Vistas and comicbookdb.com.  The comicbookdb.com list is probably the simplest to use for this particular task, since it neatly lays out every comic story by cover date.

Oh and if you hadn't cottoned on to it, Empire of Death is a date-based novel, where each of its seven chapters correspond to each one of the days between 14 and 21 February. Therefore what I've put down so far is essentially just place holding text — a massive simplification of things.  If you get access to this novel, these pages will need to be given better copy.  01:31: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
Hey SOTO. Someone made a change to Actor or crew member/preload and I don't know enough about that template to know if the change broke something, fixed something, or is entirely irrelevant to how this wiki functions because we don't use it anywhere. Could you check it at your earliest convenience? Najawin <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 08:12, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
:Seriously, the work at comicbookdb.com is absolutely meticulous on that score. I strongly urge you to use that as your basis for everything from The Klepton Parasites all the way to at least the beginning of the BBC Wales era at DWM.  01:40: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
:::Not sure what you're talking about.  You don't need more than "Countdown" or "TV Action".  Brevity is what matters on date pages.  Besides, the indicia on Countdown remains Countdown/TV Action (or some very close variation thereof) throughout the entire run.  That is, the words "Countdown" "TV" and "Action" always appear in the indicia, regardless of the issue number, or what's going on with the cover. The cover goes through three major stages though: first Countdown then Countdown/TV Action, then TV Action.  Use the one appropriate to the story at hand.  Don't go all crazy with the exact cover; it honestly doesn't matter to this wiki. (Well, it matters on the page Countdown (magazine), but that's it.) 01:53: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
::::Yeah, you're going a bit long on some of your lines.  Please note this diff.  For the most part, just get a year, the name of the actual release, and the company who released it. We can't really start doing issue numbers at this level, because we'd then have an imbalance between the Polystyle stuff — where we don't have individual issue pages — and the other stuff, where we do. Best just to avoid the apparent imbalance by leaving it at "published in TV Comic" or "published in Doctor Who Magazine". also, each line should have only one release.  So it's not "the script of The Power of the Daleks (TV story)"; it's "The Power of the Daleks (script)".  Remember, our watch word here is simplify.  Cut it back to the absolute barebones. 02:35: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
::::Oh, and in that vein, let's just say that if the cover of the mag has "TV Action" in it, the strip "was published in TV Action".  If it has Countdown alone on the cover, then it's from Countdown. 02:37: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
:::::18 March (releases) looks good, though I don't really think we need "by Target Books" after every novelisation.  The presumption is Target, surely, with those handful that aren't Target getting the specific publisher?  If you really strongly feel that having Target Books is actually necessary, go ahead, but my instinct is that it's largely superfluous info.  Also, I kinda dig inverting the usual sentence structure on entries.  It doesn't always have to be:
:::::::*<title> was published in <publication>/by <publisher>
::::::I think we can say things like "Part one of the TV Comic story <whatever> was published". I think if we have a standard for each media, then when we assemble pages with all different media, we'll have ensured sentence structure variety.  I mean, if we do all the comic stories one way, and all the TV stories another way, when you put em together on a single page, there's variance in the sentence structure. 03:18: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>

Vetoing "books by genre" cat
Forum issues / Talk to a user
I'm shutting down your "books by genre" notion before you go too far with it. It's going to require wayyyyyy too much speculation.  Many in-universe books are merely mentioned; it'll take too much T:NO RW creep to then define a genre. 17:40: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>
:Nah, :Category:Non-fiction books is fine.  That's easy to tell.  It's when you try to place Great Expectations into, I dunno, "historical drama" or some other genre classification that things get dicey. 18:48: Sun 23 Jun 2013</span>

If you're getting an "Emergency Protocol One" error, you're getting an error which is dressed up to look like it's coming from this wiki, but is in fact a Wikia-wide "database error".  In other words, there's nothing we can do about it. They do happen from time to time, but they aren't being caused by any local issue.  You'd get them (albeit with a different message) whether you were editing here or anywhere else on the Wikia network.  They tend to be extremely intermittent and short-lived, though, so I can't promise you that you'd get one here, then be able to go to another wiki and immediately trip the message there.
If it is against the rules... it should be stated in the rules, as I was able to point out this rule is not. A user should not have to blindly trust another "more experienced" user, especially one that the user has had problems with in the past. : I struggle to see good faith in a user continually engaging with another user that has indicated that they do not want to interact with them. Surely this site has rules regarding that? Why should I have to interact with a user that makes me feel uncomfortable when they could just as easily ask an admin to intervene if they think I am doing something wrong? They do tend to happen in the middle of the night in mainland US time zones, because that's morning in Poland, where Wikia's engineering team is located. 17:45: Mon 24 Jun 2013</span>

Hi, SOTO. I left a message on this user's page because they've been consistently uploading images of more than 100 KB and haven't been categorising them. They've indicated that they don't intend to follow these rules, so I wonder if you might be able to have a word. Jack &#34;BtR&#34; Saxon <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 00:16, 24 November 2022 (UTC)
Yes, I would probably put the publisher on novelisations where it's not Target.  Obviously, it's a little more vital on Doctor Who in an Exciting Adventure with the Daleks, Doctor Who and the Crusaders, and Doctor Who and the Zarbi, where you've got what we might consider truly different editions done by different publishers.  I think in the case of these three books, we probably should note the first non-Target edition and then the subsequent first Target edition.

But I definitely don't think that, for the purposes of the day pages, that it's particularly noteworthy to indicate when the first Pinnacle or Virgin reprints are.
: Are there seriously no rules regarding harassment on this site? This is a very clear case.

As for whether I'm doing ordinal redirects, well, it's not particularly high on my to-do list. Nominally, though, I suppose it's consistent with the original forum ruling that allowed us to switch to cardinal dating. So it probably will be coming.  Ordinal dating is not a part of the way I use English so it never occurs to me write  "the 21st December" — which probably explains why we don't already have the redirects.  If it were me, the redirects would be at "the 21st of December", but that's not the way the community swung. 17:58: Mon 24 Jun 2013</span>
: I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at User:OncomingStorm12th pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on Special:LonelyPages and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. But I refuse to do so from a user who makes me feel deeply uncomfortable and that I have repeatedly asked to limit interaction with me. Making out that I'm refusing to follow the rules, rather than refusing to acknowledge a user who knows that they make me feel uncomfortable, is a fabrication. A user should not have to interact with someone who makes them feel uncomfortable. It isn't like I make a habit of accusing other users of this, it is a single user who I have had problems with in the past and no longer want to interact with. == More date stuff ==
Hiya - since you were the last admin to edit the "You may" template, you may want to look at the talk page I created for it, where I raised some issues. Over on Stranger Things Wiki, I designed the equivalent templates to ensure they don't create awkward squashed text. For the most part, TARDIS is excellently designed, but the issues with this particular template stick out like a sore thumb. <br>
Hey :) In some instances, I'm just going to drop a note on date talk pages, as with Talk:23 February. I don't always have the time to read and understand what's going on, but I will try to leave at least a note any time I find anything.

Also, I should tell you that I have given up on trying to make sense of The Time Travellers.  That thing is full of specific dates, but I have no Idea what's happening there.  I can't tell what's real or what's not real, so I guess I'll have to go back and read it from cover to cover and hope for the best.  But I'm not too optimistic about everything making sense based on my own distant memories of the work, and the recent Doctor Who Book Club Podcast on the subject. 20:50: Thu 27 Jun 2013</span>

:Hmmm, I see your logic, but it doesn't quite work correctly in a cooperative environment.  I'd rather the DeleteDate message stay active (and indeed the page usefully categorised), until we actually have information on the page.  A blank page is less helpful than a nearly blank page with a tophat soliciting an editor's help.  Talk pages are, by tradition, the place for notes about how to edit the article, not hidden messages on the ns:0 page. 21:12: Thu 27 Jun 2013</span>

Year pages are in, and most of the programming surrounding them has been completed.  There's just a little kink left to fix on the YearNav front to make YearNav appear on the pages with dab terms.  Otherwise YearNavLateral offers only alternatives that are sensible for the particular year (i.e., no (releases) in 1935, but (people) is allowed).  Basic deal is that 1897 forward have (people) pages, except for a few scattered pages in the 1890s where there are no recorded births.  1960 forward have production pages, while 1963 forward have release dates. Hi! Please re-read Tardis:Vandalism policy. You are not to alter another user's page, no matter the circumstances. There are several things wrong with the recent edit you made to User:Snivystorm's user page.
Please join me in Slack
* You didn't contact an admin instead of doing it yourself. This is a violation of the vandalism policy. Contact an admin instead, and I'll go on record as saying I don't care enough about spoilers for the new series so I will be happy to take care of any spoiler violations.
* Your edit summary clearly states that you know you're not supposed to do it but you're going to do it anyway. As a very prolific editor, new users will take their cue from people like you. Please try not to blatantly violate policies.
* You left your reasoning in an edit summary, but edit summaries have a very short lifetime of being easy to find. It will soon be buried in the page history. Some new users don't even know that the "recent activity" page exists or how to find the reason for an edit. This new user may have no idea what policy he/she violated, and may continue to add the information until someone lets him/her know on their talk page why their user page was changed. When users, especially new ones, violate policy in their edits, I always let them know on their talk pages why their edits were changed.

Hi, I have a favor to ask. I am probably the least technical person on this wiki, and I don't know how to check for sock puppetry, or even if I have the permissions to do that. There is a series of users, most with similar names, that have been uploading the same images, without licenses and breaking several other policies, over the last two weeks or so. I have given two of them short blocks for repeat offenses, but another one or more have appeared. It's pretty apparent from their behavior that they are most likely the same person using different names, especially after I blocked a couple of them. If you are able, could you check on User:Theincrediblehulk2003, User:Hulkbreaktheworld, User:Hulksmashtheworld and User:The Worldbreaker Hulk. Hi, SOTO. Bongolium said you might be able to help.

The "BtR" in my username was chosen because it was the initials of my first Wikia username so I could be recognised, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also chose "Saxon" at random, so I'm not particularly attached to my username.

Thanks for the message
Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
:I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
:But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
:I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
:I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
:Only thing I've created in the past days was https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
:I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
:I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes. Although I think it might be sensible to add a "renaming" section to the user name policy, or to create a "User name renaming policy" or something like that. I can foresee a huge potential problem for sockpuppetry and other issues if we don't do due diligence on the renaming. It might be best if we just have a blanket 'no' until there's policy in place. And as a bureaucrat we ultimately carry the most blame / power regarding this. I had it for ages over there, and there were very few bureaucrats (very few people want the extra level of responsibility above admin), so I'm glad there's more here. --Tangerineduel / talk 06:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Renaming users
I've seen your work on the Help:Changing your username, and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

The full draft here: 7.

But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

:Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
:If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
:I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
:My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
:Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people now but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
:The Tardis:Username policy should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
:I think the <code>checkuser</code> role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
:I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
:I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems.  —Tangerineduel / talk 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Birth Date of Murray Gold
RE: Welcome!
While I understand, after you having linked T:NO SELF REF, I would like to point out that on the 28 February (people) page, his birth is listed, albeit unsourced, so would it be necessary to have a source on the Murray Gold page, or would it be the proper action to remove the listing from the date article? The latter seems slightly unnecessary, but as I am a new editor on this wiki, I figured I best ask someone else. --ToaMeiko <span title="Talk to me">☎</span> 05:52, August 28, 2013 (UTC)

Would it be appropriate for September? Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio...
If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too...

: Yes, yes, I was indeed late to the party. No harm in trying, eh? It's been about 2 days without any alterations to the logo, a little longer of a wait than I thought. As for this logo mockup, I can rededicate it to my user page so that it doesn't go to waste, because I wholesomely approve of the design the community picked out! The minimalist look is superbly used by focusing on Nine's jacket lapels. And for the record, the photomanipulation in GIMP to make the background transparent really cost me time, which is why I ran late. Tell you what, I'll whip up a Tenth Doctor logo and present it right before we do the logo swap again. Thanks for pointing me to that thread so I can be prepared for next time. == Light theme subheadings ==

However, that thread you sent me to went silent around April, not really deciding on what to fill the December slot, just a "Happy Holidays" variation. This was before The Name of the Doctor introduced the mystery incarnation. I can discuss him just barely, since he's past knowledge, but not fully explored. By December, that "new" Doctor will be less spoiler-sensitive. With some nudging, that one could be used complete the 12 months. I am tempted to mention another option... but I mustn't- off limits because of our stringent spoiler policy. Save that one for January!
There's been an issue with the light theme for a number of days now where the subheadings appear blue, with the text themeselves being almost unreadable. I think it's to do with the subheadings being matched to the dark theme's background colour and not flipping to the corresponding light theme's background colour when that's used. I can't be the only one using the light theme, hoping you can help. --Tangerineduel / talk 04:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Sixth Doctor contents box
:::: Well, It took about 90 minutes for me to make something brilliant. You made a design with the Sonic Screwdriver. I took that idea and made it even better. I traced a picture of it and the Doctor in his tweed suit with my own personal accents.
Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically Transmat:Torchwood, but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.

Confused by your regex code.  Not sure what you want me to do with it. Not in the habit of testing out relatively complex code unless I have a plain English understanding of what you think the code will do.  What are you unhappy with in the date display of BBC DVD releases?  Explain to me in plain English what you want your code to do.

Note that regex comes in a lot of "stripes" or "flavours", and that what you read online may not actually work with pywikipedia, the bot we use. 06:48: Tue 03 Sep 2013</span>

Userbox-R
Hi SOTO,

Image template proposal
Do you have the technical know-how to make a userbox-r template, as I don't know how to.
It's not an unfeasible proposal. It's merely unwise. Admin cannot put themselves in the position of endlessly cleaning up people's work.  I mean, we're already doing cleanup jobs with T:SPEEDY and any number of things.  But I guess I and Mini-mitch feel that learning to upload the images correctly is not so difficult.

An image either fits those guidelines or it doesn't. If it doesn't, you delete it and move on. Yeah, sure, occasionally I'll have mercy and redo it. But most of the time, it's not worth it.  If the image is <250px, it's not salvageable at all. If it's a framing problem, it's often tricky to refactor.  If it's blurry, there's nothing to salvage.
Thanks in advance.

The only scenario that's quick, I'll grant you, is the conversion of .png to .jpg.  But the truth is that I want to delete those. I want to make a point to the uploader that they're not acceptable.  I don't want to do his or her cleanup for them. I want them to see that we're not playing around: .pngs will be deleted on sight.

Deletion of images is useful, even though it temporarily means that we've lost an image.  The only way to train people to do the work correctly is to spend time talking to them on their talk page, and then, if necessary, show them that you're perfectly prepared to delete their work until they observe our really quite simple rules.  08:39: Tue 03 Sep 2013</span>

Hey. Not that the wording choice matters, but "impliedly" is a word. It means, "in a manner that is hinted at or suggested rather than directly expressed". I probably first heard about it when learning how an Act of Parliament can impliedly repeal an early one, so perhaps it's more commonly used in the British legal world. I really dont mind being bothered :) Someone had created some pages which I've just started to catch up with and one being Tunnel Terrors. Completely confusededit source

Thanks! User:TARDIS9/SigUser:TARDIS9/TimeFormat 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022

Twice upon a Time Hartnell TARDISedit source

On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

I can provide sources and evidence for this.

There's an ongoing discussion about our continuing lack of forums, and having some more feedback would always be nice. In addition, since I haven't asked you to be the bad guy since I've been back, could you please have a discussion with User:PepsiMagnet about their page creations? They're definitely engaging in good faith, but they keep creating pages with just a title and an infobox (and often the title is wrong, or the page shouldn't exist yet), and User:Shambala108 has already specifically told them not to create pages. Re: Image captionsedit source

If it is against the rules... it should be stated in the rules, as I was able to point out this rule is not. A user should not have to blindly trust another "more experienced" user, especially one that the user has had problems with in the past. DrWHOCorrieFan 21:01, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

I struggle to see good faith in a user continually engaging with another user that has indicated that they do not want to interact with them. Surely this site has rules regarding that? Why should I have to interact with a user that makes me feel uncomfortable when they could just as easily ask an admin to intervene if they think I am doing something wrong? DrWHOCorrieFan 21:14, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

DrWHOCorrieFanedit source

Hi, SOTO. I left a message on this user's page because they've been consistently uploading images of more than 100 KB and haven't been categorising them. They've indicated that they don't intend to follow these rules, so I wonder if you might be able to have a word. Jack "BtR" Saxon 00:16, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Are there seriously no rules regarding harassment on this site? This is a very clear case.
I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at User:OncomingStorm12th pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on Special:LonelyPages and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. DrWHOCorrieFan 00:27, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

“You may” templateedit source

Hiya - since you were the last admin to edit the "You may" template, you may want to look at the talk page I created for it, where I raised some issues. Over on Stranger Things Wiki, I designed the equivalent templates to ensure they don't create awkward squashed text. For the most part, TARDIS is excellently designed, but the issues with this particular template stick out like a sore thumb.

Undelete talk pageedit source

Hey, I'm not sure if this will be at all interesting, but when you have time could you undelete Talk:The mighty 200? I found a reference to it on an old talk page, so it might be worth looking at. Najawin 05:55, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

Inclusion Debates 2.edit source

Hey, SOTO, that 10k Dawns thread is currently viewable in inclusion debates 2. The one nobody is supposed to be able to see. Najawin 04:31, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Obviously you're still moving stuff around, but just a heads up that User:SOTO/Forum Archive/The Panopticon III is out of order. Absolutely no rush, what exists is fantastically workable compared to the early days of the wiki. But just to bring it to your attention. Najawin 08:03, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Please join me in Slackedit source

Hey hey! LTNS! Would you mind joining me in Slack to share your plans for the Forum?
czechout<staff />    18:03: Wed 10 May 2023

Actually a meeting in Diosco might be more convenient. Any chance you could stop by there and befrikend me, cause you don't seem to have your habndle in your provile. Mine is in my profile. You should know that the Forum namespace is now open. That would seem to obviate some of the plans CHris has told me you have made, and I'd like a chance to discuss a few things. Thanks!

Heads up about the thanks extensionedit source

Hi. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tardis is testing the "thanks" extension which Fandom will be rolling out to all wikis soon. This extension allows editors to thank other editors for their edits. The editor being thanked will then recieve a notification. Therefore, while you're actively performing edits, you may receieve a few more notifications than normal. If you notice any bugs, pass them onto User:Spongebob456. Bongo50 19:58, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Admin+edit source

Hey there! I’m reaching out to introduce the Admin+ program (if you haven’t heard about it already!) & let you know I’m here if you have any questions about it. Take a look at the details here & feel free to send over any questions you have. pikushi ✧.* <staff /> 20:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Re: Discordedit source

Iii am so sorry, I messed up and made the request disappear — could you send it again? But it's very very good to hear from you. (EDIT: Okay, I've found the means to resend one to you myself, so… could you accept that one, haha? Sorry about this mess.) Scrooge MacDuck 20:19, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Deadname forumedit source

Hey, could you perhaps take a look at Forum:Clarifying in-universe deadnaming policy in response to Rose Noble. I think it would be great to hear your view on the matter as this one might sit close to you, on both sides of the matter. Danniesen 11:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Sock puppetedit source

There may be more, but these four are the ones I can recall. Thanks! Shambala108 16:29, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks and that answers my question, none of us have that ability :D Next time I'll go to Fandom staff. Thanks again, Shambala108 18:33, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

That weird IP user againedit source

Hey SOTO, if you could block 183.132.187.157 and delete the pages they created that would be lovely. Cheers. Najawin 09:08, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Prop delete queryedit source

I've been looking through the Category:Proposed deletions category recently and noticed an inordinate amount are pages lurking as sub-pages of your page. Some of them are obviously archived forum pages, and others not, I just wanted to double check with you that these should be in the delete category (or not). --Tangerineduel / talk 13:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Forum Archivesedit source

Hey, obviously zero, zero pressure. I'm just curious whether the plan is to move User:SOTO/Forum Archive to a more permanent location in the near future now that we're on the new site or if it's lower down on the priority list. If that's the plan, I'll hold off on adding threads from that era to my sandbox. (Again, absolutely no pressure here, this is just wondering so I can figure out how to organize my own stuff.) Cheers. Najawin 09:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Changing usernameedit source

Hi, SOTO. Bongolium said you might be able to help.

The "BtR" in my username was chosen because it was the initials of my first Wikia username so I could be recognised, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also chose "Saxon" at random, so I'm not particularly attached to my username.

Would you be able to change my name to a mononymous "Jack"? If that's not possible, let me know and I'll spend some time thinking up a new and more unique one.

Thanks. Jack "BtR" Saxon 13:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

That's great, thanks very much. (And sorry about my problematic punctuation marks!) Jack 13:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the messageedit source

Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
Only thing I've created in the past days was https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes.

Renaming usersedit source

I've seen your work on the Help:Changing your username, and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

The full draft here: User:Tangerineduel/Sandbox 7.

But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people now but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
The Tardis:Username policy should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
I think the checkuser role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems. —Tangerineduel / talk 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Infobox imageedit source

Hi SOTO,

Just wanted to check in and apologise for editing the infobox gallery on The Doctor without community discussion. I had done so on 'Fandom' and nobody pulled me on it - not an excuse, it's just why I copied the edit over to here without realising I shouldn't have done. I have since started a discussion about it on the Talk page. My bad! — Fractal Doctor 19:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanksedit source

Thanks for restoring my admin bit while I was bumbling around the new place. As I said to Tangerineduel, it’s nice to have it, even if, as Cassandra said about the Doctor’s “parts”, they’re barely used. —Josiah Rowe 19:49, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Absolutely! Welcome back to the family. I'm so glad you made it, after all. 💙SmallerOnTheOutside.pngSmallerOnTheOutside.png
(I noticed your note about keeping things on one talk page, so I'm following suit. I've heard whispers of a plan to discuss changing that convention in a forum discussion, so conversations are easier to follow. It is, after all, something quite peculiar to Tardis.)

Username changeedit source

Hi again SOTO, I believe you may be able to assist - if possible, I'd like to change my username to simply "Fractal". It doesn't appear to be registered, so I'm hopeful it can be done. I chose my original username based on old fanfiction, and no longer wish to be associated with it, but I would like to keep the "Fractal" element of it (which will also help with regards to people still recognising who I am). Please could you let me know if this is possible? Thank you. — Fractal Doctor 21:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC) Thank you kindly for the username change :) — Fractal Doctor 18:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Username Changeedit source

Hi SOTO,

Back when I made my account, all those years ago, I was not very wise with my username choice. The less sites it is on the better, so can I please have it changed to Laura in the TARDIS. Thank you LauraBatham 08:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

That's perfectly fine. I'm happy to wait. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly (and for the pre-approval). LauraBatham 09:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

A month of edits, and a change of nameedit source

I just want to say I appreciate just how much a behemoth of workload I'm sure you have, you're doing a great job. I'm just wondering what my options are, having had no idea this was even happening I did virtually a month's worth of edits which I'd love to get back. And also a change in username, if possible, would be nice, I'm thinking FuturesEnd. Thanks! StevieGLiverpool 07:41, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

RE: Welcome!edit source

I'm glad to see everything transferred swimmingly! I'll have a double check to see if there's any edits I should manually get in here, but other than that sounds good. Many thanks for putting me at number 2! StevieGLiverpool 21:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

User rename policyedit source

Just thought I'd drop a message to say I've created Tardis:User rename policy and its related Tardis:User rename policy/Change request subpage. There's inuse tags on them so we can make any changes before making this official. --Tangerineduel / talk 04:03, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the edit and I have a question ^^'edit source

Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio... If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too... Light theme subheadingsedit source

Sixth Doctor contents boxedit source

Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. Thanks AdricLovesNyssa 21:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

CSS issue on transmat pagesedit source

hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically Transmat:Torchwood, but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.

Where could I talk about an interpretation I have about "The Legend of Ruby Sunday"? ^^'edit source

Hello, I'm sorry to bother... again... but I just finished to watch "The Legend of Ruby Sunday" and it impacted me for personal reasons and I really want to talk about it, of my interpretation of someone's comeback and it echoed in my head about a dialogue between the 1st Doctor and Bill in "Twice Upon a Time" (I try to avoid spoils, just in case)

Taggededit source

Jack 19:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Nah, it's no problem! It should be as easy to understand as possible. Jack 20:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
