==Missing videos==
== Temporary forums ==
Hey, sorry to bother but I see that you're uploading some videos. If you're not too busy, could you please upload some missing videos which I recommended over at [[Tardis_talk:Video_recommendations]]? Thanks in advance [[User:Flabshoe1|Flabshoe1]] [[User talk:Flabshoe1|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:39, May 13, 2017 (UTC)

So, thank you for taking the time to do the Oxygen TV trailer. Could you also find the time to the rest of the missing videos? This is something I would do on my own, but obviously I can't so I need your help. Thanks! Heya! Hope your new year has started off well, too!  Mine has begun busily, and with a ton of inclement weather.  So I'm running behind this week, along with it being a holiday week.  So I'm not sure I'll reasonably be able to make this somewhat artificial deadline of the 24th to have the forums back in place. Would you mind giving me until Monday, 1 February?  I'd rather avoid adding a second step to the forum restoration process if at all possible.  Thanks! {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}} 02:55: Thu 20 Jan 2022</span>
:Hey :) I ran into another coupla roadblocks last week, and spo I couldn't get back over here. If y'all could give me another coupla weeks, I'd be super appreciative. {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}} 20:34: Tue 01 Feb 2022</span>

== Coal Hill entrance hall ==
==Completely confused==
Hey, back in November, I added an infobox for [[Coal Hill entrance hall]], and you later removed because your intention was to have an image of it back on [[TV]]: ''[[Remembrance of the Daleks (TV story)|Remembrance of the Daleks]]'' and how it looked now, on [[TV]]: ''[[For Tonight We Might Die (TV story)|For Tonight We Might Die]]''. I'm ok with that, and even agree the idea is good. But what do you think of this: the infobox comes back and we make the images go to the left of the page. This way, we can keep an infobox on the page, and also the two images.
Hi! About those edits regarding Bessie (which I apologise for if it looked like vandalism, I just genuinely thought it was the case), I’m actually kinda confused - I don’t really remember any DWU TV stories that focus on fully sentient vehicles. I say TV stories since I’ve only really seen those, as they are usually more commercially available. Nor can I remember any other sentient DW vehicles as well, aside from the TARDIS. The only non-organic life forms I can think of with any sentience are the likes of the Autons, WOTAN, and K9. Could you direct me to any examples of sentient vehicles, as well as instances of vehicles narrating a DW story? Thanks! {{user:TARDIS9/Sig}}{{User:TARDIS9/TimeFormat}} 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022</span>

Furthermore, there is a third image ([[:File:Quill and Armitage.jpg]]) on the page. This could perhaps be the infobox image. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:28, May 14, 2017 (UTC)

== What does the “council” tag mean (w’ signature) ==
Hey SOTO. Could you please delete [[Brotherhood]]? Currently, it points to [[Brotherhood of the Immanent Flesh]], but it should be kept for the concept of a brotherhood, and an overview of brotherhoods. Oh, and the only link that existis for it is on a sandbox. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 01:57, June 6, 2017 (UTC)

== Trick story name ==
On your profile, next to the administrator tag, there’s a “council” tag. You’re the only user I’ve seen so far with it. What does it mean? (Sorry for forgetting to sign the last time I did this) [[User:GaganTopia|GaganTopia]] [[User talk:GaganTopia|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:31, 19 February 2022 (UTC)
Hey, today Big Finish released ''[[Torchwood cascade CDRIP.tor (audio story)|torchwood_cascade_CDRIP.tor]]'', a story with the trickiest name I've ever came across. I made the page under the ''closest'' name to the one on the cover, and added a {{tlx|retitle}} on the top of it, to make it ''exaclty'' like on the cover.

However, when I went to add the cast list, I realised it'd be extremely hard to make the dabbing for this story. On the trailer for this story, Nicholas Briggs simply refers to it as '''Cascade''' (which is the same as "torchwood_cascade_CDRIP.tor" if you remove the tricky-stuff). I was wondering if perhaps it'd be fine to actually name the page [[Cascade (audio story)]], use the retitle, and use ''Cascade'' as the dab term for the characters in this story. IMO, using "torchwood_cascade_CDRIP.tor" would be terrible, because it's too long. == Vandal ==
::Yeah, after [[User:PicassoAndPringles]] edited the page a bit, I realised it wasn't as tricky as I first thought. The {{tlx|retitle}} trick can also be done to [[Stephen (torchwood cascade CDRIP.tor)]], [[Max (torchwood cascade CDRIP.tor)]] and [[Nikki (torchwood cascade CDRIP.tor)]], once these pages are created. Perhaps, a simple redirect from [[Cascade (audio story)]] to [[Torchwood cascade CDRIP.tor (audio story)]] will sufice. But thanks for looking into it anyway ;) . Hello, I accidentally created a misspelt category that needs promptly deleting, "Category:Individuals Fairies", that I've remade as "Category:Individual Fairies", meant for [[Jasmine Pierce]] to denote her species. Hey SOTO. I was revisiting the [[BBC Three]] page and tried linking to their YouTube channel. I managed to do so with the {{tlx|YouTube}} template (adding "bbcthree" there). However, doing so in the infobox links to "/user/bbcthree", which isn't a proper link to their channel.

== Twice upon a Time Hartnell TARDIS ==

On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

== Recent video uploaded ==
"The TARDIS prop appears to have the exterior used by the First Doctor as played by David Bradley in Twice Upon a Time, originally created as a replica of the William Hartnell-era TARDIS for the docu-drama An Adventure in Space and Time. The TARDIS console also carries over from these productions."
Hey SOTO. You recently uploaded [[:File:LGBTQ In The Worlds Of Doctor Who - Doctor Who The Fan Show]]. While the ''subject'' of the video doesn't contain any spoilers, there's a small discussion about stuff from [[Series 11 (Doctor Who)]] crew (around 19:49). I realise is ''really'' quick, and I ''really'' wanted to add it to [[Bethany Black]], [[Waris Hussein]] and bts in [[sexuality]], but I remembered that spoiler-ish bit, and took it of. Just popped by to give you this heads-up in case you did not watch it before uploading (or, like me, already knew the spoiler and forgot that it even was a spoiler). However, I caught myself watching some of the most recent ones, and I am ''so'' loving it now, this one above all. Hope the video can stay (I really hope we won't need to hold this 23min beauty because of a 12 seconds line, but oh well). == Note on Cat:Individual Time Lords ==
This is not correct. This exterior was commissioned from ThisPlanetEarth, who make TARDIS exterior replicas. The Box was in fact their Pertwee style box that was altered to more resemble the way the TARDIS looked in 1966, as the box was modified during the War Machines. Because of these modifications, the Adventures in Space and Time box would no longer resemble the box in 1966, being more based loosely on the 1963 prop.
Hey there! I asked [[User_talk:Shambala108|Shambala108]] about a change I wanted to make, but she hasn't gotten back to me, so I figured I'd run it past you instead. On [[:Category:Individual Time Lords]], there's a note [http://tardis.wikia.com/index.php?title=Category%3AIndividual_Time_Lords&diff=909353&oldid=907033 from 2012] saying
:"Individual Time Lords cannot be a subcategory of [[:Category:Individual Gallifreyans]], or vice versa. Such arrangement creates bot-stopping recursion. From a purely practical standpoint, the two categories need to be merged for the smooth operation of the wiki."
I'm thinking of modifying this note to remove the merger suggestion. Besides the bot, there are plenty of other reasons why someone shouldn't put Cat:Individual Gallifreyans in Cat:Individual Time Lords, or vice versa; namely, there are [[Time Lord#Non-Gallifreyan Time Lords|several non-Gallifreyan Time Lords]], and there are also several non-Time Lord Gallifreyans, like [[I.M. Foreman]] and the [[Outsider]]s. This is also a strong argument against merging the two categories, hence why no editor over the last 5 years has followed the note's suggestion. What would you think of me removing that part of the note? [[User:NateBumber|NateBumber]] [[User talk:NateBumber|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 00:36, August 14, 2017 (UTC)

== Overview categories ==
https://tardisbuilders.com/index.php?topic=10227.0
Hmm, what you said made a lot of sense. When I started placing them in "audio overviews", I though: (using [[:Category:Gallifrey audio series]] as example) if a user comes here, they will be able to get a view of all series/seasons of this range, as well as their respective stories, and, if they exist, box sets collecting them. They would also be able to see which voice actors were present in it (and, as pointed out/suggested on [[Category talk:Category:The True History of Faction Paradox writers]], writers and directors). [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 22:34, March 4, 2018 (UTC)
:Yeah, you're right about the pages being on "audio overviews"; only the pages should remain there, and re-arrange the rest of the category tree.
:[[:Category:Audio stories by range or series]] seems a good counterpart to [[:Category:Television stories by season / series]].
:Perhaps we could create [[:Category:Big Finish Doctor Who audio series]], which could be a meta-category for all series from [[Big Finish Doctor Who audio stories]]. This way, the category tree remains more or less unchanged, just switching "audio overviews" with this (or, when necessary, [[:Category:Big Finish audio spin-off series]])
:PS: Sorry if anything ended up unclear; I feel like this tends to happen when I write too much . [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 23:53, March 4, 2018 (UTC)

== Crook ==

== Nth Doctor audio stories ==
How is a thief not a crook?
The changes you made to [[Tenth Doctor audio stories]] were definitely very good. I made them closer to [[Ninth Doctor novels]] because that format seemed quicker at first, but indeed the format of comic overviews is more informative (though I like having a table rather than a long list). Two things I'm struggling with are:
:Should we merge a few tables? For example, you can notice I did it for ''The Churchill Years'' on these pages (otherwise, we'd have a lot more one-row tables. Should it also be done, for example, for the four ''Doom Coalition'' tables at [[Eighth Doctor audio stories]]?
:How many {{tlx|Main}} templates to use? One for each ''Doom Coalition'' boxset, at we have now, or just one for [[Doom Coalition (audio series)]] at the top of that sub-section?
Please let me know what you think about these :) [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 00:39, March 18, 2018 (UTC)
:I ''really'' like the new format for the ''Doom Coalition'' table. I've often wondered if we should have a single table on these 4-box-sets series, but never got something I quite liked. Looks way better than the ''Dark Eyes'' section this way.
:Your idea to when split tables and when not seems good, as most series/box-sets nowaday have 4 stories. If you give me permission to start making the changes, I'll glady do it.
:I do plan to add a bit of text between these tables, to make the page look better, giving a few explanations of format changes, etc. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 22:47, March 18, 2018 (UTC)

== Near future bot request ==
== When you have time ==
Hey. I'm planning on engaging in a new "project": sorting [[:Category:Big Finish Doctor Who voice actors]] into the relevant categories, such as [[:Category:Classic Doctors, New Monsters voice actors]], [[:Category:The Eighth Doctor: The Time War voice actors]], et al. But before, I have a question regarding bots: Once I had gone through all relevant pages and added the categories, it'd be good if you could run a bot, removing all individual pages from "Category:Big Finish Doctor Who voice actors", as they'd be sorted under more specific categories already. However, once these categories are created, they will, of course, be put under "Category:Big Finish Doctor Who voice actors", which means, for example, [[Joe Jameson]] would be both on "Category:Classic Doctors, New Monsters voice actors" and "Category:Big Finish Doctor Who voice actors". Is there any chance that running a bot would mess up this categorisation? [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 00:42, April 11, 2018 (UTC)
:Yes; thanks for simplifying my thoughts; sometimes I get over excited, shoot off at the mouth. I was rather afraid that the bot could accidentally jump from the main category into one of the subcategories. Since you reassured it won't, I'll start this (probably long :p) task. When I get around to finishing it, I'll post another message here. Thanks. ::OK. Now I've added the specific categories for each voice actor. :::I wasn't so sure about Special Releases as well, but created a page and categories for it because of releases such as [[Living Legend (audio story)]] and [[The Ratings War (audio story)]] which didn't have more specific ranges, but, as often happens with BF's website categorisation, it soon became a bit of mess, with stuff like [[Classic Doctors, New Monsters: Volume One]] and [[The Churchill Years]] being added there. I'm not opposed to deleting them, but that'd mean [[:Category:Big Finish Doctor Who voice actors]] couldn't be a super-category.
:::And yes, I did look into [[:category:Audio writers]], but I think I'd like to tackle [[User:OncomingStorm12th/Sandbox 3|my proposal code for the Infobox Event]] (and next doing the coding for the ''Infobox Anatomy and Physiology'') before going back to the category tree. == New infobox ==
Hey SOTO. Someone made a change to {{tlx|Actor or crew member/preload}} and I don't know enough about that template to know if the change broke something, fixed something, or is entirely irrelevant to how this wiki functions because we don't use it anywhere. Could you check it at your earliest convenience? [[User:Najawin|Najawin]] [[User talk:Najawin|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 08:12, 7 September 2022 (UTC)
I'll start this message apologizing for potentially - probably - sounding obnoxious and/or repetitive, but it's just that I get a bit overexcited over stuff sometimes. Anyway, the reason of this message (and I know I already messaged you about this in the past, so, just in case, sorry again) is that I have a proposition for an infobox which covers non conflictual events, such as [[2012 Olympics]], which is the page I used to test the code for it.

Back when I last talked to you about it, the infobox were just a few scattered ideas, but between then and now, I started looking at the code of {{tlx|Infobox Conflict}}, and decided to mess with it a bit, changed a few things, and then came to be [[User:OncomingStorm12th/Sandbox 3]], which is the "final" version of the code (unless there's some technical issues with it being implemented as it is). Most of the paremeters for it are tested on the Olympics page, and I made sure the others work like I intended them to.
== Forum issues / Talk to a user ==

So, basically, now all I need to know is if there's any "bureaucratic" process to get it implemented and good to go, and deciding the name. I was pretty happy with having it as {{tlx|Infobox Event}}, but this is currently a redirect for {{tlx|Infobox Event or Exhibition}}. The reasoning for it is the main category which would be associated with the said Infobox ([[:Category:Events]]). So, when you have the time to look at it, hit me back. Thanks (and sorry for the over-long post as well ;p ). [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 00:23, May 4, 2018 (UTC)
Hey, whenever you have the time, it would be nice if you could swing by [[Forum talk:Index]]. There's an ongoing discussion about our continuing lack of forums, and having some more feedback would always be nice. In addition, since I haven't asked you to be the bad guy since I've been back, could you please have a discussion with [[User:PepsiMagnet]] about their page creations? They're definitely engaging in good faith, but they keep creating pages with just a title and an infobox (and often the title is wrong, or the page shouldn't exist yet), and [[User:Shambala108]] has already specifically told them not to create pages. [[User:Najawin|Najawin]] [[User talk:Najawin|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 05:44, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

:Hmm, combining it with Infobox Conflict didn't cross my mind before; it could work as well. One good addition, even for conflicts would be the "causes" parameter. Anyway; "Infobox Event or Exhibition" could retain it's name, I think. Only the redirect needs to be changed, as the "or Exhibition" part would disambiguate it from the in-universe template. == The Rename of [[The War]] ==
: Are there ''seriously'' no rules regarding harassment on this site? This is a very clear case.
... yeah, this is a fun one. [[User:Revanvolatrelundar|Revanvolatrelundar]] recently okayed the rename of the page "[[The War]]" to "[[War in Heaven]]", but didn't actually move the page because, well, we need a bot. [[The War]] is actually going to stay around as a redirect and be changed in a case-by-case basis (as I've been slowly doing for a few months now), but the problem is the hierarchy of categories that have "The War" in their title:
* [[:Category:The War]]
* [[:Category:Conflicts in the War]]
* [[:Category:Groups in the War]]
* [[:Category:Individuals in the War]]
* [[:Category:Planets in the War]]
* [[:Category:Species in the War]]
* [[:Category:Technology in the War]]
* [[:Category:Great House members in the War]]
* [[:Category:Faction Paradox members in the War]]
* [[:Category:Vehicles in the War]]
* [[:Category:Weapons in the War]]
The words "in Heaven" need to be added to the end of all the categories. There's no rush or anything, but is that something [[User:SV7|SV7]] would be able to help with? – [[User:NateBumber|N8]] [[User_talk:NateBumber|☎]] 13:42, September 4, 2018 (UTC)

:Just a quick update: Since Revan gave the a-okay to moving the page, all those categories have been manually fixed, the old ones have been deleted, and all links to [[The War]] (outside of talk pages, sandboxes, and Panopticon discussions) have been moved to [[War in Heaven]]. : I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at [[User:OncomingStorm12th]] pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on [[Special:LonelyPages]] and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. But I refuse to do so from a user who makes me feel deeply uncomfortable and that I have repeatedly asked to limit interaction with me. == “You may” template ==

==Inaccuracy in your Summary on the "Pronoun Use" Thread==
Hiya - since you were the last admin to edit the "You may" template, you may want to look at the talk page I created for it, where I raised some issues. Over on Stranger Things Wiki, I designed the equivalent templates to ensure they don't create awkward squashed text. For the most part, TARDIS is excellently designed, but the issues with this particular template stick out like a sore thumb. <br>
Your last, summing-up post in the ''Pronoun Use'' thread reads so:
https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Template_talk:You_may [[User:TheGreatGabester|TheGreatGabester]] [[User talk:TheGreatGabester|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 17:51, 13 December 2022 (UTC)
::"''Opposing arguments are built on a false notion that we "made up" singular they/them pronouns,''"
and though it's too late to argue with the bigger conclusion, I don't think this is a fair summarization of my argument. What I meant to get across was absolutely not that I rejected the "singular they"; nor was it ''only'' that we lacked in-universe evidence of use of "they".

My point was that the "singular they" when definitively talking about an individual means something a little ''different'' than what "he or she" (or "she or he"; either fits) means. "They" would fit in either of two cases: if the individual ''had'' a pinned-down gender but the speaker didn't know it; or if the individual positively identified as nonbinary or actively genderfluid. And I argued Time Lords were a different matter than either of those cases, because they don't changing genders willy-nilly, nor identify at any time of their life as nonbinary; instead, their life is a succession of discrete incarnations, each of whom is either ''positively'' male or ''positively'' female. At times the Doctor is a "he", at times the Doctor is a "she", but you'll never dig up a past or future version of the Doctor who'd explicitly answer to "they".
== Undelete talk page ==

Therefore when talking about the Doctor across his timeline we ought to say "he or she", because at certain points of the timeline we're talking about "he" was appropriate, and at others "she" was appropriate. But never "they".
Hey, I'm not sure if this will be at all interesting, but when you have time could you undelete [[Talk:The mighty 200]]? I found a reference to it on an old talk page, so it might be worth looking at. [[User:Najawin|Najawin]] [[User talk:Najawin|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 05:55, 2 April 2023 (UTC)

Then ''from the basis'' that "he or she" and "they" were not simply synonyms, but meant subtly ''different'' things, that's when I tried to dig up in-universe quotes, to show that people ''used'' "he or she", thereby signifying the particular ''meaning'' of "he or she" as opposed to "they".

This is a minute argument, and I understand that it might not convince you. Again, I'm not here to argue with the conclusion or reopen the debate as such. == Clarification on the plagiarism policy ==

Hi, I was looking over the synopsis history of The Woman Who Fell to Earth and I noticed that one of the old synopsis was removed due to plagiarism, which I then found to be the official synopsis from the BBC. So how come these hundreds of counts of directly copying official synopsis are fine, yet when it comes to the main television series it is suddenly unacceptable? And for another example of seemingly acceptable plagiarism in story summaries is the summary for [[Vrs (short story)|Vrs]], which you may be familiar with as you were the one who added it. The summary is a full copy of the story, which as far as I can tell, definitely makes that plagiarism as well. Was just looking for some clarification on why those are allowed but the Woman Who Fell to Earth case was different, as either there's some difference between them that I can't see, or we have a rather large plagiarism cleanup job on our hands. Another small question I had was regarding the names of some of the characters of [[Extremis (TV story)|Extremis]]. Usually, characters are named with their first appearance in brackets. This being the case, shouldn't the characters (eg. Moira, Penny, Nardole) be titled as "Moira (Extremis)"? Similarly, shouldn't people from Pete's World be given page titles such as "Jackie Tyler (Rise of the Cybermen)" rather than being based on the world they come from?

:If I may butt in, this feels like another [[Thread:219136|“Martin Luther King in ''Lie of the Land''” situation]]. The situations may be slightly different, but the basic problem is still the same — two different DW stories refer to what the viewer knows is a single IRL figure, but without anything explicit in-story to confirm the two references are to the same person. So I think whatever was the decision with MLK should also apply here. <br />
:Problem is, the thread's closing didn't follow regular procedure (since it was closed because of an inaccurate statement at one point in the opening post, as opposed to because a solution had been reached on the main problem), Shambala's closing message ''didn't'' include a summary of the final decision, if there even was one. <br />
:''Since'' Shamabala closed it because of a point of procedure, and explicitly left the door open for a new discussion to be made to finish solving the actual problem at some point, perhaps this would be the time to open such a thread. --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 22:04, November 25, 2018 (UTC)
::okay, so, giving a quick search at all prose that mentions, or in which both James I and Mary Stuart appear, no connection is made between them. The closest we got was in ''[[The Plotters (novel)|The Plotters]]'', where it's said "It was not the God but the man Mary carried in her womb" and "It follows that the existent body of Christ was incarnated in the womb of Mary, and that she is the Mother of God. Dispute that!". However, I haven't fully read the novel, and thus can't provide any context to these quotes, nor guarantee they indeed refer to James I and Mary Stuart. After all, we have IU evidence of monarchs being beheaded in England ([[Charles I]], a Stuart, no less) half a centery after the events of ''The Witchfinders''. I have given two of them short blocks for repeat offenses, but another one or more have appeared. It's pretty apparent from their behavior that they are most likely the same person using different names, especially after I blocked a couple of them. If you are able, could you check on [[User:Theincrediblehulk2003]], [[User:Hulkbreaktheworld]], [[User:Hulksmashtheworld]] and [[User:The Worldbreaker Hulk]]. There may be more, but these four are the ones I can recall. Thanks! [[User:Shambala108|Shambala108]] [[User talk:Shambala108|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 16:29, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Hey if I am making a page for a character that has been mentioned in something but didn't appear, am I supposed to use the "only" infobox field or the "first mention" infobox field to specify what that source is?

Also I noticed that they Infobox Policies link on [[Tardis:Help]] is broken and doesn't lead anywhere, maybe that can be fixed? Thank you for your help! ^_^ [[User:Toqgers|Toqgers]] [[User talk:Toqgers|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:28, December 9, 2018 (UTC)

I've been looking through the [[:Category:Proposed deletions]] category recently and noticed an inordinate amount are pages lurking as sub-pages of your page. Some of them are obviously archived forum pages, and others not, I just wanted to double check with you that these should be in the delete category (or not). --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 13:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)
Hiya and thank you for changing to link on the top of infobox from [[Big Finish Doctor Who audio stories]] to [[Main Range]]. Now, this has probably ocurred to you, but just in case it didn't, the "series" parameter in most infoboxes still links to the former. Perhaps [[User:SV7|a certain bot]] could lend a hand and help on this? [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 20:38, December 21, 2018 (UTC)
:Oh, what a bummer. Perhaps SV7 needs [[Fourth Doctor|a Doctor]] or [[Seventh Doctor|two]] ([[Eighth Doctor|or three)]], if needs must! But it's all good. We have managed to work fine with these links for a few months, a bit more time won't hurt the wiki, especially as the top link is to the Main Range page at least. It'll be great if it's added to your list. Thanks for responding. ::I noticed that SV7's back online. When you have the time, could you put them up to the task? I'd be very glad. There's one or two things I have in mind for them as well, but no need to overcharge you (and the poor thing) for now, as it's nothing too urgent.[[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 01:09, February 27, 2019 (UTC)
:::Honestly, I think it's better to change the current text to "in [[Big Finish]]'s ''[[Main Range]]''", like it's displayed at ''[[Power Game (audio story)|Power Game]]'', ''[[Devil in the Mist (audio story)|Devil in the Mist]]'' and a few others. After all, ''[[The Revisionists (audio story)|The Revisionists]]'' and ''[[Tick-Tock World (audio story)|Tick-Tock World]]'' are also "Big Finish ''Doctor Who'' audio stories".
:::The other thing I had in mind was taking advantage of the "|series =" parameter in Infobox Magazine. I've noticed many magazine pages don't use them (I noticed it through VOR issues, though that is kind of my fault, since I'm the one who didn't add them while making all those pages). Anywaym I've seen a fair share of DWM pages without that as well, and surely there's other magazines missing them, like [[12DY2 10]]. Specially for the bigger ones like VOR and DWM it'd be good to have a helping hand from SV7. :::::Look, I'm not that sure there's a "right" way, but there sure is a way I prefer: ''Doctor Who Magazine''. Adding "issues" is quite unnecessary in my view. Once a person lands on a page and go to the prev/next, they can only expect to navigate among issues after all. Much the reason why we don't need to add "X audio stories" for most audio pages, or "X novels". == "Redundant" categories ==
== Forum Archives ==

Hi, I don't think you understand what people mean when they say a category is "redundant". Sure, the use of the word isn't quite what is stated on the categorization policy pages. However, we have a nested category system on this wiki. To use the most recent example that you changed, [[:Category:Ravenous voice actors]] is already in [[:Category:Doctor Who voice actors]], so there is no need to '''add''' the [[:Category:Doctor Who voice actors]] to, say, [[Nicholas Rowe]]. This kind of thing has been enforced '''multiple times''' over '''multiple years''', so if you have an issue with it, it would need to be brought up at [[Board:The Panopticon]]. Thanks, [[User:Shambala108|Shambala108]] [[User talk:Shambala108|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 03:46, January 5, 2019 (UTC)
Hey, obviously zero, zero pressure. I'm just curious whether the plan is to move [[User:SOTO/Forum Archive]] to a more permanent location in the near future now that we're on the new site or if it's lower down on the priority list. If that's the plan, I'll hold off on adding threads from that era to [[User:Najawin/Sandbox 7|my sandbox]]. (Again, absolutely no pressure here, this is just wondering so I can figure out how to organize my own stuff.) Cheers. Upon seeing you add recent volumes of ''[[The Complete History]]'' to series' infoboxes, another range of reference books came to my mind: ''[[The Black Archive]]''. :From where we stand now, (and trying to avoid spoilers) it looks like the plan is to release more and more, while they keep selling well (which seems to be the case, given they were bi-monthly before, and turned into monthly releases). Perhaps the best path right now would be to add them to specific stories only, and once there's more of them (in a year or two, if they're still being released) add them to series as well. == Dates ==
Hi, SOTO. Bongolium said you might be able to help.
Hey, thanks for your suggestions as well. Certainly not something I had thought about. So, just to leave this as a guide for myself to do, an to let you and Czech know, I'll do the following: go thorough all pages that link to ''XXXX (people)''. Those who have sources, I'll add in the relevant (people) pages. Those who don't, I'll add a {{tlx|source}}, to remind ourselves (myself mostly) to look back at them. Once I finish that, I'll see if there's any dates in those pages which have neither a source nor the template attached to them, and see what needs to be done. Once ''that'' is finished, I can go back an start checking the sources and adding those who don't have one. Did that make sense? [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 01:42, January 15, 2019 (UTC)
:OK, just to make sure I got it correctly: instead of the current:
<nowiki>
<!--
PLEASE do not alter anything BELOW this line
===================
-->{{#ifeq:{{PAGENAME}}|27 November (people)|{{cat|Days of the year}}{{cat|Days of birth and death}}{{DateSort}}|}}
</nowiki>

it would be:
The "BtR" in my username was chosen because it was the initials of my first Wikia username so I could be recognised, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also chose "Saxon" at random, so I'm not particularly attached to my username.

<nowiki>
Would you be able to change my name to a mononymous "Jack"? If that's not possible, let me know and I'll spend some time thinking up a new and more unique one.
<!--
PLEASE do not alter anything BELOW this line
===================
-->{{#ifeq:{{PAGENAME}}|27 November (people)|{{reflist}}{{cat|Days of the year}}{{cat|Days of birth and death}}{{DateSort}}|}}
</nowiki>

If so, I can take a side step on the current plan, and add them manually to all day pages. Also, would the code at the top need any changes as well, or just the bottom?{{unsigned|OncomingStorm12th}}

::OOh, I missed the message about {{tlx|DayRef}}. With that in use, it'd replace the whole of
<nowiki>{{#ifeq:{{PAGENAME}}|27 November (people)|{{reflist}}{{cat|Days of the year}}{{cat|Days of birth and death}}{{DateSort}}|}}</nowiki>? If so, I think it might be a good thing, because erasing the whole line(s) and adding a new thing is easier than going in the midle of the code and adding another. But even if I got the idea wrong, if you believe it'll make the overall job easier, go foward in all your beliefs, and prove to me that I was mistaken in mine. Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
It has come to my attention that [[Ann Kelso]] hasn't been added to {{tlx|Companions of the Fourth Doctor}}. As only admins can edit the companion templates, could you add her when you have the time? Thanks. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 01:00, February 1, 2019 (UTC)
:I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
:But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
:I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
:I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
:Only thing I've created in the past days was [https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages] mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
:I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
:I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes. Although I think it might be sensible to add a "renaming" section to the user name policy, or to create a "User name renaming policy" or something like that. I can foresee a huge potential problem for sockpuppetry and other issues if we don't do due diligence on the renaming. It might be best if we just have a blanket 'no' until there's policy in place. And as a bureaucrat we ultimately carry the most blame / power regarding this. I had it for ages over there, and there were very few bureaucrats (very few people want the extra level of responsibility above admin), so I'm glad there's more here. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 06:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

== Patrick(s) O'Sullivan ==
===Renaming users===
While editing [[Molly O'Sullivan]]'s page, I stubmled across the name of one of her brothers, Patrick, with no linkage at all. Seems an easy fix, if I linked it to [[Patrick O'Sullivan]]. ''However'', that's the name of their father.
I've seen your work on the [[Help:Changing your username]], and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

While only the father appears in any story, Molly's brother is first referenced in ''[[X and the Daleks (audio story)|X and the Daleks]]'', while her father appears in ''[[Tangled Web (audio story)|Tangled Web]]''.
I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

Do you think it's reasonable to have the father renamed as [[Patrick O'Sullivan (Tangled Web)]] and create links to her brother under [[Patrick O'Sullivan (X and the Daleks)]]? :Admittedly, it would require me a re-listen through both stories (if not other/all ''Dark Eyes'' stories to confirm whether Jr/Sr has been used, which I won't have time to do soon. But who knows, maybe we'll get another ''Short Trip'' with Molly one of these days where her brother appears, or something. Eventually, when I relisten ''Dark Eyes'' (which I intend, at some point) I'll return to this. ::Hey, giving a semi-feedback on this. I started relistening to ''Dark Eyes''. So far, I'm on ''[[Tangled Web (audio story)|Tangled Web]]'', which means I've gotten around to [[Patrick O'Sullivan|Patrick O'Sullivan "Sr"]]. Sadly, only he appears/is mentioned in the story, and so there was no useage of Sr/Jr. I'll get to ''[[X and the Daleks (audio story)|X and the Daleks]]'' later today. If there is any mentions to Molly's dad in there (using Sr or something like that) I'll let you know, but I'm not hopefull of the sort will happen. ::: As expected, ''X and the Daleks'' doesn't really help us with Jr/Sr, as Patrick-the-brother ends up being nothing more than a quick reference made by Molly (with no mention of her father around that scene). == Audio series ==
But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Something that crossed my mind these days: ever since we started creating pages for audio series (like [[Series 1 (8DA)]], [[Series 11 (BFBS)]], et al.) we never applied [[:Category:Seasons]] to them. Of course, doing so would require a bit of change in the category tree, but do you think this would be a worthy change (given it would also affect the Game of Rassilon)?

Also, anthologies like [[The Diary of River Song: Series One]] where the anthology ''is'' the series would get in, but stuff like [[The Fourth Doctor Adventures Series 8: Volume 1]] and [[The First Doctor Box Set]] wouldn't. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] [[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 12:19, February 16, 2019 (UTC)
:Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
:If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
:I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
:My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
:Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people ''now'' but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
:The [[Tardis:Username policy]] should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
:I think the <code>checkuser</code> role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
:I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
:I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems. [[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi SOTO,

Hi just wondering why you shortened my block of [[user:185.130.156.204]] from 180 days to 6 days (that's 3% of my original block). It's my standard practice to block anonymous users for 6 months, and you've never seen fit to shorten my blocks before. What makes this case so special? Especially since I also blocked [[user:24.124.10.6]] for six months yesterday, and you didn't seem to think that one needed shortening thanks [[User:Shambala108|Shambala108]] [[User talk:Shambala108|<span title="Talk to me"></span>]] 14:31, March 20, 2019 (UTC)
Just wanted to check in and apologise for editing the infobox gallery on [[The Doctor]] without community discussion. I had done so on 'Fandom' and nobody pulled me on it - not an excuse, it's just why I copied the edit over to here without realising I shouldn't have done. I have since started a discussion about it on the Talk page. My bad! — [[User:FractalDoctor|Fractal Doctor]] [[User talk:FractalDoctor|<span title="Talk"></span>]] 19:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

:First of all, the statement " it seems more like you were trying to silence this user for their other edits, essentially taking another POV." is very offensive considering my long track record of allowing personal attacks against myself '''specifically in order to''' avoid silencing the so-called opposition. I suggest you take a page from [[Tardis:No personal attacks]] and "assume good faith".
Thanks for restoring my admin bit while I was bumbling around the new place. As I said to Tangerineduel, it’s nice to have it, even if, as Cassandra said about the Doctor’s “parts”, they’re barely used. —[[User:Josiah Rowe|Josiah Rowe]] [[User talk:Josiah Rowe|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 19:49, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
: Absolutely! Welcome back to the family. I'm so glad you made it, after all. &#x1f499;[[File:SmallerOnTheOutside.png|19px]][[File:SmallerOnTheOutside.png|19px]]

:And it seems rude that you chose to change my block without even mentioning it to me. When you blocked [[User:OttselSpy25]] for a year and I thought it was too long, I approached you on your talk page (the message has since been removed at [[User:CzechOut]]'s request, but it's there in the edit history). I would think you would grant me that same courtesy instead of just reverting my block. Now it looks like we admins can't get along or agree on anything.
: (I noticed your note about keeping things on one talk page, so I'm following suit. I've heard whispers of a plan to discuss changing that convention in a forum discussion, so conversations are easier to follow. It is, after all, something quite peculiar to Tardis.){{User:SOTO/sig}} 06:45, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

:Lastly, since it seems you other admins are discussing this naming issue in private, I offer a suggestion: take it to the forums. Not only does this allow more transparency, it would avoid future misunderstandings from users who don't know you guys are discussing this in an off-wiki site. Hi again SOTO, I believe you may be able to assist - if possible, I'd like to change my username to simply "Fractal". It doesn't appear to be registered, so I'm hopeful it can be done. I chose my original username based on old fanfiction, and no longer wish to be associated with it, but I would like to keep the "Fractal" element of it (which will also help with regards to people still recognising who I am). == Deleted Discussion. Why? ==
Hi SOTO,
Hi there,

Earlier, I created a thread in the discussions asking who would win in a battle between the Daleks and the Wizarding World (Harry Potter/Fantastic Beasts). However, it has now been removed and I'm not sure as to why.
Back when I made my account, all those years ago, I was not very wise with my username choice. The less sites it is on the better, so can I please have it changed to Laura in the TARDIS. Thank you [[User:LauraBatham|LauraBatham]] [[User talk:LauraBatham|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 08:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

I was wondering if you could help me understand as to why it was removed, so if the issue was caused by myself (which I think is most likely), I can take note so I don't cause those issues again with any future threads I make. If you yourself cannot deal with this, can you please point me in the right direction.
:That's perfectly fine. I'm happy to wait. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly (and for the pre-approval). [[User:LauraBatham|LauraBatham]] [[User talk:LauraBatham|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 09:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

== Companion Navbox Additions ==
== A month of edits, and a change of name ==
Hi, sorry to bother you but I’ve found that there’s a few characters that might be worth adding to the Companion navboxes and also maybe a few tweaks that may be appropriate due to more recent information.

Now I apologise in advance, because it’s a hell of a lot. But I thought they would be helpful suggestions. Obviously I don’t expect any kind of response or action any time soon because you guys have so much to keep your eyes on, but I’d appreciate it if you’d have a look into it whenever you have a moment.
I just want to say I appreciate just how much a behemoth of workload I'm sure you have, you're doing a great job. I'm just wondering what my options are, having had no idea this was even happening I did virtually a month's worth of edits which I'd love to get back. And also a change in username, if possible, would be nice, I'm thinking FuturesEnd. Thanks! [[User:StevieGLiverpool|StevieGLiverpool]] [[User talk:StevieGLiverpool|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 07:41, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

=== Fifth Doctor ===
== RE: Welcome! ==
* [[Jane Hampden]] and [[Will Chandler]] - They are currently situated in the original to prose section but both only actually appear in [[The Awakening (TV story)|The Awakening]]. However it is established through references the Doctor makes in two later books that they travelled with him for a month after their tv Story. So I propose that they are moved to original to tv and placed under a multi-adventures tab.

=== Sixth Doctor ===
I'm glad to see everything transferred swimmingly! I'll have a double check to see if there's any edits I should manually get in here, but other than that sounds good. Many thanks for putting me at number 2! [[User:StevieGLiverpool|StevieGLiverpool]] [[User talk:StevieGLiverpool|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)
* [[Heather Threadstone]] - She’s currently on the Companion navbox purely because Colin Baker called her his companion in the behind the scenes interviews. Can’t help but feel if she’s counted then many others such as [[Riva]], [[Yrsa Kristjansdottir]], [[Isambard Kingdom Brunel]] and [[Patricia Menzies]] would have to count as well as then it would be a messy free for all.

=== Seventh Doctor ===
==User rename policy==
* [[Mags (The Greatest Show in the Galaxy)|Mags]] - She should be added to the multi story, original to TV section due to the fact that she has joined the Seventh Doctor as a companion in [[The Monsters of Gokroth (audio story)|The Monsters of Gokroth]] and has two more stories upcoming where she acts as the companion.
Just thought I'd drop a message to say I've created [[Tardis:User rename policy]] and its related [[Tardis:User rename policy/Change request]] subpage. There's inuse tags on them so we can make any changes before making this official. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 04:03, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

* [[Neil Hilton]] - I’ve just discovered this character and it turns out he’s not on the navbox. He only appears in [[Séance, or Smoking is Highly Addictive, Don't Start (short story)|Séance, or Smoking is Highly Addictive, Don't Start]] but that story establishes that he spends years travelling in the TARDIS with the Doctor and Ace. He’d be best placed in original to prose, multi adventure, I think.
== Thanks for the edit and I have a question ^^' ==

* [[Private (Front Line)|Private]] - I’d actually suggest that this character is removed from the navbox due to the fact that he never has any kind of adventure with the Doctor, nor do they fight any kind of villain or take a trip in the TARDIS. They simply have a conversation in the trenches and the Doctor offers him companionship which the Private swiftly rejects. The Doctor then goes on his way.
Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio...
If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too...
[[User:KaradegRara|KaradegRara]] [[User talk:KaradegRara|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 15:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)KaradegRara

* [[Panda]] - He might fit better in multi-adventure rather than single adventure as [[Muse of Fire (audio story)|Muse of Fire]] establishes that he spent roughly a month travelling in the TARDIS with the Doctor and gathering historical figures.
Edit : Thanks a lot for the answer! ^^' [[User:KaradegRara|KaradegRara]] [[User talk:KaradegRara|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 16:11, 2 April 2024 (UTC)KaradegRara

=== Eighth Doctor ===
== Light theme subheadings ==
* [[The Eleven]] - He became a companion at the end of the first episode of [[Ravenous 3]] and is still travelling in the TARDIS as of the end of that Boxset.

* [[Sheena (The Starship of Theseus)|Sheena]] - Might be better suited to multi-Adventure rather than single adventures as it’s made clear that she was travelling with the Doctor for some time prior to [[The Starship of Theseus (audio story)|The Starship of Theseus]].
There's been an issue with the light theme for a number of days now where the subheadings appear blue, with the text themeselves being almost unreadable. I think it's to do with the subheadings being matched to the dark theme's background colour and not flipping to the corresponding light theme's background colour when that's used. I can't be the only one using the light theme, hoping you can help. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 04:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

* [[Todd (Mary's Story)|Todd]] and [[Rita (Mary's Story)|Rita]] - They’re only ever mentioned in [[Mary's Story (audio story)|Mary's Story]] so its difficult to determine where they should go on the navbox as current they no appearances and we don’t know how long they travelled with the Doctor for. Perhaps it may be best to place them in narratively ambiguous or something.
==Sixth Doctor contents box==

=== Tenth Doctor ===
Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. Thanks [[User:AdricLovesNyssa|AdricLovesNyssa]] [[User talk:AdricLovesNyssa|<span title="Talk to me">☎</span>]] 21:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
* [[Christina de Souza]] - She made an appearance with Ten in [[Last Chance (audio story)|Last Chance]], last year so I’m not sure if single adventure works anymore.

I do wonder if perhaps we may need a section for companions that the Doctor has several adventures with but never actually travels with in any regular sense.
== CSS issue on transmat pages ==

=== Eleventh Doctor ===
hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically [[Transmat:Torchwood]], but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.
* [[Strax]] - As much as I don’t like it, the wiki considers the Titan comics backup strips valid and in those Strax is regularly seen travelling in the TARDIS with the Doctor.

A while back, new parameters were added to {{tlx|Infobox Story}}: "range", "series in range", "number in series" and "series number in range". They are now used on all audio story pages (unless any flew under my radar). But I've often wondered if they should also be used for prose stories (I'm leaving comics off the table because their numbering is a bit more complicated).

For examples, I added the parameters to ''[[Constant Companion (short story)|Constant Companion]]'' and ''[[Winner Takes All (novel)|Winner Takes All]]''. Not only it creates uniformity of our coverage of stories between media, but also is quite aesthetically pleasing, imo. What do you think? ::Your ideas are very good! Well, given that most ranges would ''not'' be italicised, getting the <code>novel range</code> variable seems useful (though, come to mind, there is one or two things which ''would'' be italicised, like ''[[The Darksmith Legacy]]'', ''[[Bernice Summerfield (series)|Bernice Summerfield]]'' and the likes of it, right? I wasn't arguing that "Madam President" or "Time Lady" were at all inaccurate (indeed, ''I'' personally think "female Time Lord" sounds weird, for all that it's neither here nor there when it comes to documenting in-universe usage). The debate has examined all the relevant wiki rules concerning the original reason for the case being made against 10,000 Dawns as a crossover series, and all users bar one have decided it should be included. With the main butting heads of the debate involving two admins (myself and Amorkuz), I think it's fairer to get someone who hasn't been involved in the thread's debate to pass final judgement on the decision to include them and close the thread, or whether the debate still needs to continue. Thanks. --[[User:Revanvolatrelundar|Revan]]\[[User_talk:Revanvolatrelundar|Talk]] 20:30, August 28, 2019 (UTC)

Hello Soto! How are you?
Hey. Not that the wording choice matters, but "impliedly" is a word. It means, "[https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/impliedly in a manner that is hinted at or suggested rather than directly expressed]". I probably first heard about it when learning how an Act of Parliament can impliedly repeal an early one, so perhaps it's more commonly used in the British legal world. Hi there, I was waiting for someone to come along who could help with Jenny. Firstly an easy one: since the naming system seems to have established itself as [[Jenny 7]] and [[Jenny 8]], it is perhaps best for us to rename [[Jenny One]] to [[Jenny 1]]? I think your rename of Category is a great idea too.

== Talk page ==
Secondly, would it be perhaps worth our time making one of those little infoboxes that sit on the side of a page with the Jenny ships in chronological order? As a huge fan of the ''Jenny'' series, I just think any excuse to get people exploring it would be a great opportunity. I can happily tell you the order in which they come. I'll be trying to add to the whole Jenny side of the Wiki when my freetime allows it.
Hi, when you get a chance, could you visit [[Talk:Meta-fiction universe]]? Since you created one of the two pages in question, I figure you might know enough about the issue to clarify it. Temporary forums[[edit source]]

Thanks!

Completely confused[[edit source]]

Thanks! User:TARDIS9/SigUser:TARDIS9/TimeFormat 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022

Twice upon a Time Hartnell TARDIS[[edit source]]

On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

I can provide sources and evidence for this.

Forum issues / Talk to a user[[edit source]]

Hey, whenever you have the time, it would be nice if you could swing by Forum talk:Index. There's an ongoing discussion about our continuing lack of forums, and having some more feedback would always be nice. In addition, since I haven't asked you to be the bad guy since I've been back, could you please have a discussion with User:PepsiMagnet about their page creations? They're definitely engaging in good faith, but they keep creating pages with just a title and an infobox (and often the title is wrong, or the page shouldn't exist yet), and User:Shambala108 has already specifically told them not to create pages. Najawin 05:44, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Re: Image captions[[edit source]]

If it is against the rules... it should be stated in the rules, as I was able to point out this rule is not. A user should not have to blindly trust another "more experienced" user, especially one that the user has had problems with in the past. DrWHOCorrieFan 21:01, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

I struggle to see good faith in a user continually engaging with another user that has indicated that they do not want to interact with them. Surely this site has rules regarding that? Why should I have to interact with a user that makes me feel uncomfortable when they could just as easily ask an admin to intervene if they think I am doing something wrong? DrWHOCorrieFan 21:14, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

DrWHOCorrieFan[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO. I left a message on this user's page because they've been consistently uploading images of more than 100 KB and haven't been categorising them. They've indicated that they don't intend to follow these rules, so I wonder if you might be able to have a word. Jack "BtR" Saxon 00:16, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Are there seriously no rules regarding harassment on this site? This is a very clear case.
I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at User:OncomingStorm12th pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on Special:LonelyPages and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. But I refuse to do so from a user who makes me feel deeply uncomfortable and that I have repeatedly asked to limit interaction with me. Making out that I'm refusing to follow the rules, rather than refusing to acknowledge a user who knows that they make me feel uncomfortable, is a fabrication. A user should not have to interact with someone who makes them feel uncomfortable. It isn't like I make a habit of accusing other users of this, it is a single user who I have had problems with in the past and no longer want to interact with. DrWHOCorrieFan 00:27, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

“You may” template[[edit source]]

Hiya - since you were the last admin to edit the "You may" template, you may want to look at the talk page I created for it, where I raised some issues. Over on Stranger Things Wiki, I designed the equivalent templates to ensure they don't create awkward squashed text. For the most part, TARDIS is excellently designed, but the issues with this particular template stick out like a sore thumb.

Sock puppet[[edit source]]

Hi, I have a favor to ask. I am probably the least technical person on this wiki, and I don't know how to check for sock puppetry, or even if I have the permissions to do that. There is a series of users, most with similar names, that have been uploading the same images, without licenses and breaking several other policies, over the last two weeks or so. I have given two of them short blocks for repeat offenses, but another one or more have appeared. It's pretty apparent from their behavior that they are most likely the same person using different names, especially after I blocked a couple of them. If you are able, could you check on User:Theincrediblehulk2003, User:Hulkbreaktheworld, User:Hulksmashtheworld and User:The Worldbreaker Hulk. There may be more, but these four are the ones I can recall. Thanks! Shambala108 16:29, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Forum Archives[[edit source]]

Hey, obviously zero, zero pressure. I'm just curious whether the plan is to move User:SOTO/Forum Archive to a more permanent location in the near future now that we're on the new site or if it's lower down on the priority list. If that's the plan, I'll hold off on adding threads from that era to my sandbox. (Again, absolutely no pressure here, this is just wondering so I can figure out how to organize my own stuff.) Cheers. Changing username[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO. Bongolium said you might be able to help.

The "BtR" in my username was chosen because it was the initials of my first Wikia username so I could be recognised, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also chose "Saxon" at random, so I'm not particularly attached to my username.

Would you be able to change my name to a mononymous "Jack"? If that's not possible, let me know and I'll spend some time thinking up a new and more unique one.

Thanks. Jack "BtR" Saxon 13:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

That's great, thanks very much. (And sorry about my problematic punctuation marks!) Jack 13:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the message[[edit source]]

Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
Only thing I've created in the past days was https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes. --Tangerineduel / talk 06:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Renaming users[[edit source]]

I've seen your work on the Help:Changing your username, and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

The full draft here: User:Tangerineduel/Sandbox 7.

But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people now but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
The Tardis:Username policy should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
I think the checkuser role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems. —Tangerineduel / talk 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Absolutely! Welcome back to the family. I'm so glad you made it, after all. 💙SmallerOnTheOutside.pngSmallerOnTheOutside.png
(I noticed your note about keeping things on one talk page, so I'm following suit. I've heard whispers of a plan to discuss changing that convention in a forum discussion, so conversations are easier to follow. It is, after all, something quite peculiar to Tardis.)

Username change[[edit source]]

Hi again SOTO, I believe you may be able to assist - if possible, I'd like to change my username to simply "Fractal". It doesn't appear to be registered, so I'm hopeful it can be done. I chose my original username based on old fanfiction, and no longer wish to be associated with it, but I would like to keep the "Fractal" element of it (which will also help with regards to people still recognising who I am). Please could you let me know if this is possible? Thank you. — Fractal Doctor 21:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC) Thank you kindly for the username change :) — Fractal Doctor 18:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Username Change[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Back when I made my account, all those years ago, I was not very wise with my username choice. The less sites it is on the better, so can I please have it changed to Laura in the TARDIS. Thank you LauraBatham 08:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

That's perfectly fine. I'm happy to wait. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly (and for the pre-approval). LauraBatham 09:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for sorting that out for me. Laura 04:45, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

A month of edits, and a change of name[[edit source]]

I just want to say I appreciate just how much a behemoth of workload I'm sure you have, you're doing a great job. I'm just wondering what my options are, having had no idea this was even happening I did virtually a month's worth of edits which I'd love to get back. And also a change in username, if possible, would be nice, I'm thinking FuturesEnd. Thanks! StevieGLiverpool 07:41, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

RE: Welcome![[edit source]]

I'm glad to see everything transferred swimmingly! I'll have a double check to see if there's any edits I should manually get in here, but other than that sounds good. Many thanks for putting me at number 2! StevieGLiverpool 21:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

User rename policy[[edit source]]

Just thought I'd drop a message to say I've created Tardis:User rename policy and its related Tardis:User rename policy/Change request subpage. There's inuse tags on them so we can make any changes before making this official. --Tangerineduel / talk 04:03, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the edit and I have a question ^^'[[edit source]]

Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio... If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too... Light theme subheadings[[edit source]]

--Tangerineduel / talk 04:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Sixth Doctor contents box[[edit source]]

Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. Thanks AdricLovesNyssa 21:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

CSS issue on transmat pages[[edit source]]

hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically Transmat:Torchwood, but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.

Game of Rassilon and Badges[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Is there any chance of badges and the Game of Rasillon returning to the new wiki?

Sandbox edit[[edit source]]

Is there any particular reason why you undid my last sandbox edit…? WaltK 03:54, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Aaaaaahhhh. Beg your pardon. WaltK 19:25, 3 May 2024 (UTC)

Userbox-R[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Do you have the technical know-how to make a userbox-r template, as I don't know how to.

Thanks in advance.

Where could I talk about an interpretation I have about "The Legend of Ruby Sunday"? ^^'[[edit source]]

Hello, I'm sorry to bother... again... but I just finished to watch "The Legend of Ruby Sunday" and it impacted me for personal reasons and I really want to talk about it, of my interpretation of someone's comeback and it echoed in my head about a dialogue between the 1st Doctor and Bill in "Twice Upon a Time" (I try to avoid spoils, just in case)
Edit : Nevermind, I just wrote it on my own page... sorry for the inconvenience :/ KaradegRara 22:10, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

The Last Day[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO! Could I trouble you to merge The Last Day 1 (audio story) and The Last Day 2 (audio story) into The Last Day (audio story)? There's been a discussion about it. Jack 12:31, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

Tagged[[edit source]]

Hey. Not that the wording choice matters, but "impliedly" is a word. It means, "in a manner that is hinted at or suggested rather than directly expressed". I probably first heard about it when learning how an Act of Parliament can impliedly repeal an early one, so perhaps it's more commonly used in the British legal world. Jack 19:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Nah, it's no problem! It should be as easy to understand as possible. Jack 20:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Jenny One and infobox[[edit source]]

Hi there, I was waiting for someone to come along who could help with Jenny. Firstly an easy one: since the naming system seems to have established itself as Jenny 7 and Jenny 8, it is perhaps best for us to rename Jenny One to Jenny 1? I think your rename of Category is a great idea too.

Secondly, would it be perhaps worth our time making one of those little infoboxes that sit on the side of a page with the Jenny ships in chronological order? As a huge fan of the Jenny series, I just think any excuse to get people exploring it would be a great opportunity. I can happily tell you the order in which they come. I'll be trying to add to the whole Jenny side of the Wiki when my freetime allows it.

Thanks, Thefartydoctor 22:36, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
