Would you tell me why you dab the story ''Revenge of the Nestene'' as a short story? It's clearly an audio. --[[User:Danniesen|DCLM]] [[User talk:Danniesen|☎]] 21:44, March 26, 2020 (UTC)

== Vandalism ==
Heya! Hope your new year has started off well, too! Mine has begun busily, and with a ton of inclement weather. So I'm running behind this week, along with it being a holiday week. So I'm not sure I'll reasonably be able to make this somewhat artificial deadline of the 24th to have the forums back in place. Would you mind giving me until Monday, 1 February? I'd rather avoid adding a second step to the forum restoration process if at all possible. Thanks! {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}} 02:55: Thu 20 Jan 2022
Could you please do something about [[User:Connorguy]] and [[User:DoneNothingWrong]]. They continuously insert false information based on speculation and they are consistently edit warring as a result. I have tried multiple times now to warn them, but they continue the tirade. The "speculation" was originally inserted by [[User:Cynical Classicist]]. --[[User:Danniesen|DCLM]] [[User talk:Danniesen|☎]] 22:38, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
:Hey :) I ran into another coupla roadblocks last week, and spo I couldn't get back over here. If y'all could give me another coupla weeks, I'd be super appreciative. {{user:CzechOut/Sig}}{{User:CzechOut/TimeFormat}} 20:34: Tue 01 Feb 2022
:I did not originally post the information. Someone else did, and once you removed it another user added it back. I, a third user, believed that the information was valid enough to be on the page (and since then a fourth user has also contributed). This puts you at odds with several members - if you felt that the information was wrong / false you should have started a discussion on the talk page (like I suggested). However, you continued to repeatedly remove the information despite being asked to stop. [[User:Connorguy|Connorguy]] [[User talk:Connorguy|☎]] 22:43, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
:: Incorrect. The only 3 users who consistently inserted it were all new members unfamiliar with a large portion of how this wiki works; that's you, DoneNothingWrong and Cynical Classicist. The only other user, who apparently don't realize this is pure speculation (and therefore not allowed), was [[User:NateBumber]], who also simply expanded upon this. Also you apparently didn't read my comment above, which even said who the original "creator" of the content was. I'm not the one supposed to start up a discussion on whether this shouldn't be there. It's you people who need to start a discussion on whether it SHOULD be there. -[[User:Danniesen|DCLM]] [[User talk:Danniesen|☎]] 22:50, March 26, 2020 (UTC)
:::I am not a new member. Unfortunately I have lost the credentials to my original account, although I haven't been interested in the show until the recent Russel T. Davies material was released - so recreated today. I am familiar with "a large portion of how this wiki works". There's a big difference between "speculation" and heavy "implication". [[User:Connorguy|Connorguy]] [[User talk:Connorguy|☎]] 22:53, March 26, 2020 (UTC)

:I wasn't going to comment, but since [[User:Danniesen|Danniesen]] has name-dropped me above, I feel obligated to add that I very strongly dispute his characterisation of [[Special:Diff/2865071]] as "false information based on speculation". The edit had two halves: a short but serviceable summary of the story (which I was particularly happy to see, since so many of our pages lack summaries); and a "Behind the scenes" note about the connection to [[Boris Johnson]]. While Boris' name is not explicitly given in text (hence why [[User:Cynical Classicist|Cynical Classicist]] correctly placed it in a real-world "Behind the scenes" section rather than an in-universe section like "References", where discussion of prominent off-site speculation is absolutely allowed), with how the story is written, Russell T Davies' intention is very clear, especially considering his previous comments concerning Johnson as a political figure. This has been noticed by countless commentators on Twitter, GallifreyBase, Reddit, and every other Doctor Who community the sun touches, so it would be completely negligent of our wiki to not at least mention it.
==Completely confused==
Hi! About those edits regarding Bessie (which I apologise for if it looked like vandalism, I just genuinely thought it was the case), I’m actually kinda confused - I don’t really remember any DWU TV stories that focus on fully sentient vehicles. I say TV stories since I’ve only really seen those, as they are usually more commercially available. Nor can I remember any other sentient DW vehicles as well, aside from the TARDIS. The only non-organic life forms I can think of with any sentience are the likes of the Autons, WOTAN, and K9. Could you direct me to any examples of sentient vehicles, as well as instances of vehicles narrating a DW story? Thanks! {{user:TARDIS9/Sig}}{{User:TARDIS9/TimeFormat}} 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022

:When [[User:Danniesen|Danniesen]] reverted Classical Cynicist's edit and dismissed it as "false info" -- and then when he did the same thing another 3 times -- he removed not just the bit about Boris but also the very valuable, and by no means "false", story summary. This was done so repeatedly and so quickly that no one even noticed [[User:MystExplorer|MystExplorer]] dodging in and [[Special:Diff/2865084|adding the same content in the "Notes" section!]] I have since tried to do my part in diffusing the edit war by re-adding the summary and combining the two explanations of the Boris link, complete with a source from the RadioTimes; but I completely sympathize with the frustration of [[User:Connorguy|Connorguy]] and [[User:DoneNothingWrong|DoneNothingWrong]] in this scenario. – [[User:NateBumber|N8]] ([[User_talk:NateBumber|☎]]/[[Special:Contributions/NateBumber|👁️]]) 00:07, March 27, 2020 (UTC)

:::If there was nothing wrong with the story summary, why did you remove it four times and describe the edit (in this section header) as [[T:FAITH|vandalism]]? I think how the wiki treats speculation makes perfect sense: for an illustrative example, see [[The Woman (The End of Time)]]. ::::Because I didn't see the summary. I only saw the speculation. Also, if speculation is allowed in BTS sections, please tell me why speculation in BTS sections have consistently been removed in the past. :::::As I've said, there's a difference between speculation and heavy implication. If only one user was speculating something, with no real evidence to back it up, then of course it would not be allowed. However, in this instance the wording is specific enough to be universally agreed as to who it was referencing (just look at the comments on the audio version of the story on YouTube - half the comments are about Boris Johnson) then it should be. == Time War volumes ==
== Vandal ==
I've just moved the ''[[The Eighth Doctor: Time War]]'' volumes to their new titles, but upon checking [[Special:WhatLinksHere]], I've... decided that maybe it's best to ask [[User:SV7|SV7]] a bit of help - I'm sure they'll have more fun moving the links than I would :p
So, when you have the time, could you run the bot to change:
* [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume One]] to [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume One]]
* [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Two]] to [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Two]]
* [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Three]] to [[The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Three]]
(and, as I said in [[Talk:The Eighth Doctor: Time War: Volume Three]] I'm on the opinion that only volumes 1 and 2 should keep the old names as redirects; I've only kept the volume 3 as a redirect for now until we get the links done) - thought do let me know if you disagree. [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] ([[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|talk]]) 23:11, April 3, 2020 (UTC)
: Oh I didn't realise that {{tlx|TWS}} hadn't "ripple-effected" yet; usually the links change fairly quickly. Yeah, the changing on the marketing ''was'' unusual, but everyone I saw assumed they did it to match the ''[[Gallifrey: Time War]]'' releases (after all, they incorporated its logo) - ''and'' now we get all ''8TW'' sets with the Whittaker-era logo, so that's two wins. But anyway, thanks for doing the changes (and thank SV7 as well). [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] ([[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|talk]]) 16:01, April 4, 2020 (UTC)
:: Let's do the Time War again: [[:Category:The Eighth Doctor: The Time War]] and it's subcategories were never changed from
The Eighth Doctor: The Time War
to
The Eighth Doctor: Time War
(sans the '''''The''''') - so if SV7 still has some spare batteries... ::: Hmm, if you (and SV7 as well) would allow me, I think I found another task for them. There's quite a few pages that are categorised [directly] as [[:Category:Audio cast stubs]], but don't use {{tlx|audio cast stub}}. If they could remove the category and add the template, it'd be amazing. :) [[User:OncomingStorm12th|OncomingStorm12th]] ([[User talk:OncomingStorm12th|talk]]) 16:52, April 10, 2020 (UTC)

== Template:Wales crew update? ==

== Charlotte Pollard ==
Sorry to bother you, but do you have any idea when the updates to the [[Template:Wales crew|"Wales crew" template]] might be completed? I know I've put in a lot of requests; apologies for cluttering up the talk page! As I mentioned before, I would love to learn how the template works so I could do the fiddly bits myself, although I completely understand if you'd rather just handle them centrally. [[User:Starkidsoph|Starkidsoph]] [[User talk:Starkidsoph|☎]] 21:16, 14 March 2022 (UTC)
I began to make a category for Charlotte Pollard short stories, since there's already one for her audio stories, but I began to wonder if it's really necessary. That category was deleted in 2018, and she's only had two boxsets of her own series. Do you think I should create [[:Category:Charlotte Pollard short stories]], or should [[:Category:Charlotte Pollard stories]] be deleted? [[User:Danochy|Danochy]] [[User talk:Danochy|☎]] 06:44, April 13, 2020 (UTC)

: Yeah, I agree with you there. If Charley were to get her own category, then so would the likes of Donna, Rose, and Liv with their recent solo series, and it could start to get a bit much. I'll pop a deletion tag on it now. [[User:Danochy|Danochy]] [[User talk:Danochy|☎]] 06:58, April 13, 2020 (UTC)

== Meta-fictional ''Doctor Who'' ==
::Hello, other administrator has resolved issue, please ignore above. [[User:RedWizard98|RedWizard98]] [[User talk:RedWizard98|☎]] 20:53, 20 March 2022 (UTC)
Hi there. As you're the one who originally created [[Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks)]] and formally moved it from its old title of [[TV series (Remembrance of the Daleks)]] I'd like to request that it be moved back to that original title.

The reason for this is that when I was still very new to the wiki I modified it to include all references to the Doctor existing in fiction. In doing so, I drew many speculative connections between all the sources that I can now say probably constituted a violation of policy. [[The Doctor in popular culture and mythology]] now exists to serve this purpose without speculation and in effect, the ''Remembrance'' page has been replaced by [[Doctor Who (N-Space)]] which also serves its purpose without speculation. I have already moved all the links to the most appropriate destination page.
== Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy ==

If you could also move [[:Category:Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks)]], [[:Category:Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks) cast]], [[:Category:Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks) crew]] and [[:Category:Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks) stories]] so that they all instead contain ''The Thief of Sherwood'' as a dab term that would be excellent. If it would be easier to just delete the categories and then change them on the individual pages please drop me a message. I'd be more than happy to do the work by hand to correct this mistake.
Hey!

Thanks for your time, --[[User:Borisashton|Borisashton]] [[User talk:Borisashton|☎]] 22:12, April 14, 2020 (UTC)
Recently, Fandom staff [https://community.fandom.com/wiki/User_blog:Pikushi/Updates_to_Wiki_Rules_and_Blocking_Policy posted updates] to the [https://community.fandom.com/wiki/Help:Wiki_Rules_and_Blocking_Policy Fandom Wiki Rules and Blocking Policy]. As a reminder, this is a global policy to aid the wellbeing of communities that all wikis have been following since 2021. These new changes go into effect on '''April 4th'''.
: Hi again. Since posting the above request it has come to my attention that ''Doctor Who'' also appeared in [[COMIC]]: ''[[The (Final) Doctor Who History Tour (comic story)|The (Final) Doctor Who History Tour]]''. To avoid the abominable title of "Doctor Who (The (Final) Doctor Who History Tour)" renaming [[Doctor Who (N-Space)]] to have the dab term "N-Space" seems like the best option. As well as avoiding the aforementioned name, readers will also immediately realise the scope of the article, that is the programme of ''Doctor Who'' as it exists within [[N-Space]].

: As such, the categories should be moved to [[:Category:Doctor Who (N-Space)]] et cetera while the move of [[Doctor Who (Remembrance of the Daleks)]] to [[TV series (Remembrance of the Daleks)]] remains unaffected. Thanks for your help in this matter, --[[User:Borisashton|Borisashton]] [[User talk:Borisashton|]] 21:13, April 20, 2020 (UTC)

While you are obviously correct in saying that ''[[Men Who Made History (short story)|Men Who Made History]]'' and its ilk should be in the category [[:Category:Doctor Who Annual non-fiction]], I think you were hasty in telling [[User:ToyStoryFan123]] that "puzzles and features" go there. There are features in Annuals which are also fiction, though they are not narrative (''[[The Dalek Dictionary]]'', for example) and thus go in [[:Category:Non-DWU features]], and there are wholly narrative puzzles and games; something like [[Untitled_2_(Terry_Nation%27s_Dalek_Special_game)|this]] or [[Lost Luggage (game)|this]] may not be valid due to fourth-wall-breaking and/or branching story elements, but it's hardly "non-fiction". == Page rename request ==
On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

If possible, [[Eaglemoss Publications Ltd]] should be renamed to "Eaglemoss Collections" when you have the time. I went through and did some digging, the actual company "Eaglemoss Publications Ltd" was [https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/01369365 dissolved] in 2016, with the US Eaglemoss [https://www.eaglemoss.com/en-us/faq/ FAQ] stating that they're owned by "Eaglemoss Capital Ltd", which was incorporated in [https://beta.companieshouse.gov.uk/company/09555010 2015], the page can simply note the name change occurred without getting into the actual corporate shenanigans. This change will hopefully allow for less "you need to link to the particular imprint publishing the thing" issues for {{sm|<nowiki><</nowiki>removed per [[T:SPOIL}}.{{unsigned-anon|72.194.244.165}}
"The TARDIS prop appears to have the exterior used by the First Doctor as played by David Bradley in Twice Upon a Time, originally created as a replica of the William Hartnell-era TARDIS for the docu-drama An Adventure in Space and Time. The TARDIS console also carries over from these productions."

== Rosita ==
This is not correct. This exterior was commissioned from ThisPlanetEarth, who make TARDIS exterior replicas. The Box was in fact their Pertwee style box that was altered to more resemble the way the TARDIS looked in 1966, as the box was modified during the War Machines. Because of these modifications, the Adventures in Space and Time box would no longer resemble the box in 1966, being more based loosely on the 1963 prop.
Hey there SOTO! Would you mind tackling a move of [[Rosita (The Next Doctor)]] to [[Rosita Farisi]], on account of the surname finally being corroborated by a valid source (''[[The Time Lord Letters (novel)|The Time Lord Letters]]'')? Hi there, not sure if you're the best admin to ask about this stuff but hopefully you can point me in the right direction if not.

Can you make the "|reprint" variable in {{tlx|Infobox Story}} stop automatically linking? I'm planning to add ''[[It's Even Bigger on the Inside]]'' to the infoboxes of ''[[Doctor Who? (comic series)|Doctor Who?]]'' stories and the best way I can think of doing that is by typing out: <nowiki>It's Even Bigger on the Inside{{!}}''It's Even Bigger on the Inside''</nowiki>. Or is there a way just to bypass it?

Also, the "|WithThanksTo" variable in {{tlx|wales crew}} needs to be expanded to "|WithThanksTo17" to account for all the thanking in ''[[The Curse of Fatal Death (TV story)|The Curse of Fatal Death]]''.

[[User:Shambala108]] appears to fear that the other admins might be leaving her to handle all the closures on her own, and recent user [[User:Epsilon the Eternal]] (among others!) was, as is often the case, asking quite impatiently "why the thread cas still open"… A reassurance that a closure from you is forthcoming might help greatly, I feel. --[[User:Scrooge MacDuck|Scrooge MacDuck]] [[User talk:Scrooge MacDuck|☎]] 16:14, June 3, 2020 (UTC)

==Using Autoblock to defeat trolls?==
Hey, whenever you have the time, it would be nice if you could swing by [[Forum talk:Index]]. There's an ongoing discussion about our continuing lack of forums, and having some more feedback would always be nice. In addition, since I haven't asked you to be the bad guy since I've been back, could you please have a discussion with [[User:PepsiMagnet]] about their page creations? They're definitely engaging in good faith, but they keep creating pages with just a title and an infobox (and often the title is wrong, or the page shouldn't exist yet), and [[User:Shambala108]] has already specifically told them not to create pages. Hi SOTO, hope you're doing well. So, I was scrolling through the block list recently, and noticed autoblock, and came up with an idea. I'm sure you're aware of the mass trolling done by a few nazis (or one nazi with sockpuppets) a couple days ago. I was wondering if there was a way to code the autoblock so it blocks certain words? If it is against the rules... it should be stated in the rules, as I was able to point out this rule ''is not''. So looking at the categories for reasoning, logic, mathematics and science, I feel like they could do with some reshuffling in relation to each other. But I figured it would be best to ask you about procedure here before I did anything. Normally we wouldn't place either logic or mathematics as branches of science (my rewrite would be to group all of them as branches of reasoning, then that under reason, then that under concepts, but science also stands alone under the time space visualizer), but I wouldn't want to go in and change how the wiki handles things there haphazardly, and since you added logic to the science category I just wanted to get your take on it. I understand that they might be taken to be so similar for the purposes of this wiki that they're just grouped together, even if it's not technically correct. Hence why I'm asking. : I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at [[User:OncomingStorm12th]] pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on [[Special:LonelyPages]] and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. But I refuse to do so from a user who makes me feel deeply uncomfortable and that I have repeatedly asked to limit interaction with me. Making out that I'm refusing to follow the rules, rather than refusing to acknowledge a user who knows that they make me feel uncomfortable, is a fabrication. A user should not have to interact with someone who makes them feel uncomfortable. It isn't like I make a habit of accusing other users of this, it is a single user who I have had problems with in the past and no longer want to interact with. == Korean Wiki Closure ==
== Inclusion Debates 2. ==

So a few days ago [[User:DiSoRiEnTeD1]] noticed "random letterings" on [[Rose Tyler]] and removed it. This was a link to the [https://tardis.fandom.com/ko/wiki/로즈_타일러 Korean Wiki] that was broken, and so had appeared as just a dead hyperlink at the bottom of the page, as I pointed out at [[Talk:Rose Tyler]], because the Korean Wiki has been closed. Since then I've kept my eye out on pages to see if this was a massive problem, and while it's not, a few pages, like [[Doctor Who]] and [[Clara Oswald]] still have dead Korean links. Most pages, including most pages you'd expect to be translated (like, for example, pages for companions or incarnations of the Doctor) do not have these links, but it seems that there are going to be some throughout the site. As a regular user I'm unable to systemically search for them to my knowledge. If an admin has the ability to mass delete links to another website, or we could get a bot to remove these dead links, that would probably be the best course of action. Hey [[User:SOTO|SOTO]], hope you're doing well. I finished "The Eternal Summer" and it is an absolute gem! There's one little thing I wanted some help on. In the story, Maxwell and the Doctor have a scene where Maxwell references the TV trope where a stupid character says something stupid which inspires the smart character to figure out the solution, inspired by the dumb idea. I know they make fun of this in this particular story but it's actually a pretty common Doctor Who trope. Which leads me to two questions:
Hi. I just wanted to give you a heads up that Tardis is testing the "thanks" extension which Fandom will be rolling out to all wikis soon. 1) I added this to the "Notes" section, is that appropriate? Otherwise, where should it be added because I do think it's important to mention...?

2) I was trying to remember an example off the top of my head and I remembered that scene from one of the Second Doctor stories where Jamie suggests an idea and the Doctor realizes that it was actually brilliant and says to Jamie "No Jamie, it's an idea that only you could have though of!" and Jamie goes "Aye!... Eh?" in a charming confused and not sure if he should feel insulted sort-of-way. Anyway do you remember which episode it was (it's definitely not The Underwater Menace, not referring to the scene where the Doctor runs away with Victoria when Jamie has an idea haha), I can't remember if it was "The Dominators" of "The Krotons". I'm like 99% sure it's the Dominators and that's what I added to the notes but just in case I'm wrong I thought I should run it past you first.

Also, it is mentioned that Dudley's child was aborted in one of his flashbacks (not explicitly but HEAVILY implied and it did turn out to be false in the end as a test by Jane but still it's there in some capacity). I don't feel I have the right/enough finesse to make that page (or at least I can't find it if it already exists) since it is a touchy subject, would you be able to create it instead so I can add the link on the Eternal Summer page?

Hi, I have a favor to ask. I am probably the least technical person on this wiki, and I don't know how to check for sock puppetry, or even if I have the permissions to do that. There is a series of users, most with similar names, that have been uploading the same images, without licenses and breaking several other policies, over the last two weeks or so. If you are able, could you check on [[User:Theincrediblehulk2003]], [[User:Hulkbreaktheworld]], [[User:Hulksmashtheworld]] and [[User:The Worldbreaker Hulk]]. == Thanks for the message ==

Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
:I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
:But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
:I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
:I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
:Only thing I've created in the past days was [https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages] mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
:I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
:I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes. Although I think it might be sensible to add a "renaming" section to the user name policy, or to create a "User name renaming policy" or something like that. I can foresee a huge potential problem for sockpuppetry and other issues if we don't do due diligence on the renaming. It might be best if we just have a blanket 'no' until there's policy in place. And as a bureaucrat we ultimately carry the most blame / power regarding this. I had it for ages over there, and there were very few bureaucrats (very few people want the extra level of responsibility above admin), so I'm glad there's more here. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 06:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

===Renaming users===
I've seen your work on the [[Help:Changing your username]], and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

The full draft here: [[User:Tangerineduel/Sandbox 7]].

But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

:Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
:If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
:I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
:My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
:Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people ''now'' but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
:The [[Tardis:Username policy]] should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
:I think the
checkuser
role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
:I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
:I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems. —[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

== Infobox image ==

Hi SOTO,

Just wanted to check in and apologise for editing the infobox gallery on [[The Doctor]] without community discussion. I had done so on 'Fandom' and nobody pulled me on it - not an excuse, it's just why I copied the edit over to here without realising I shouldn't have done. I have since started a discussion about it on the Talk page. My bad! — [[User:FractalDoctor|Fractal Doctor]] [[User talk:FractalDoctor|•]] 19:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for restoring my admin bit while I was bumbling around the new place. == Username change ==

Hi again SOTO, I believe you may be able to assist - if possible, I'd like to change my username to simply "Fractal". It doesn't appear to be registered, so I'm hopeful it can be done. I chose my original username based on old fanfiction, and no longer wish to be associated with it, but I would like to keep the "Fractal" element of it (which will also help with regards to people still recognising who I am). Please could you let me know if this is possible? Thank you. — [[User:FractalDoctor|Fractal Doctor]] [[User talk:FractalDoctor|•]] 21:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi SOTO,

I just want to say I appreciate just how much a behemoth of workload I'm sure you have, you're doing a great job. Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio...
If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too...

== Light theme subheadings ==

There's been an issue with the light theme for a number of days now where the subheadings appear blue, with the text themeselves being almost unreadable. I think it's to do with the subheadings being matched to the dark theme's background colour and not flipping to the corresponding light theme's background colour when that's used. I can't be the only one using the light theme, hoping you can help. --[[User:Tangerineduel|Tangerineduel]] / '''[[User talk:Tangerineduel|talk]]''' 04:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

==Sixth Doctor contents box==

Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically [[Transmat:Torchwood]], but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.

Hey. Not that the wording choice matters, but "impliedly" is a word. It means, "[https://www.collinsdictionary.com/dictionary/english/impliedly in a manner that is hinted at or suggested rather than directly expressed]". I probably first heard about it when learning how an Act of Parliament can impliedly repeal an early one, so perhaps it's more commonly used in the British legal world. == Jenny One and infobox ==

Hi there, I was waiting for someone to come along who could help with Jenny. Firstly an easy one: since the naming system seems to have established itself as [[Jenny 7]] and [[Jenny 8]], it is perhaps best for us to rename [[Jenny One]] to [[Jenny 1]]? I think your rename of Category is a great idea too.

Secondly, would it be perhaps worth our time making one of those little infoboxes that sit on the side of a page with the Jenny ships in chronological order? As a huge fan of the ''Jenny'' series, I just think any excuse to get people exploring it would be a great opportunity. I can happily tell you the order in which they come. I'll be trying to add to the whole Jenny side of the Wiki when my freetime allows it.

Heya! Hope your new year has started off well, too! Mine has begun busily, and with a ton of inclement weather. So I'm running behind this week, along with it being a holiday week. Completely confused[[edit source]]

Thanks! User:TARDIS9/SigUser:TARDIS9/TimeFormat 00:03: Tues 25 Jan 2022

Twice upon a Time Hartnell TARDIS[[edit source]]

On the Fugitive Doctor TARDIS page, it states.

I can provide sources and evidence for this.

Someone made a change to {{Actor or crew member/preload}} and I don't know enough about that template to know if the change broke something, fixed something, or is entirely irrelevant to how this wiki functions because we don't use it anywhere. Forum issues / Talk to a user[[edit source]]

Hey, whenever you have the time, it would be nice if you could swing by Forum talk:Index. There's an ongoing discussion about our continuing lack of forums, and having some more feedback would always be nice. In addition, since I haven't asked you to be the bad guy since I've been back, could you please have a discussion with User:PepsiMagnet about their page creations? They're definitely engaging in good faith, but they keep creating pages with just a title and an infobox (and often the title is wrong, or the page shouldn't exist yet), and User:Shambala108 has already specifically told them not to create pages. Najawin 05:44, 9 November 2022 (UTC)

Re: Image captions[[edit source]]

If it is against the rules... it should be stated in the rules, as I was able to point out this rule is not. A user should not have to blindly trust another "more experienced" user, especially one that the user has had problems with in the past. DrWHOCorrieFan 21:01, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

I struggle to see good faith in a user continually engaging with another user that has indicated that they do not want to interact with them. Surely this site has rules regarding that? Why should I have to interact with a user that makes me feel uncomfortable when they could just as easily ask an admin to intervene if they think I am doing something wrong? DrWHOCorrieFan 21:14, 20 November 2022 (UTC)

DrWHOCorrieFan[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO. I left a message on this user's page because they've been consistently uploading images of more than 100 KB and haven't been categorising them. They've indicated that they don't intend to follow these rules, so I wonder if you might be able to have a word. Jack "BtR" Saxon 00:16, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Are there seriously no rules regarding harassment on this site? This is a very clear case.
I am a user who can take criticism and advice, all you have to do is look at User:OncomingStorm12th pointing out to me that a ton of pages I created were taking up space on Special:LonelyPages and I immediately combatted this by creating a template to house the pages. DrWHOCorrieFan 00:27, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

“You may” template[[edit source]]

Hiya - since you were the last admin to edit the "You may" template, you may want to look at the talk page I created for it, where I raised some issues. Over on Stranger Things Wiki, I designed the equivalent templates to ensure they don't create awkward squashed text. For the most part, TARDIS is excellently designed, but the issues with this particular template stick out like a sore thumb.

Therefore, while you're actively performing edits, you may receieve a few more notifications than normal. If you notice any bugs, pass them onto User:Spongebob456. Bongo50 19:58, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Admin+[[edit source]]

Hey there! I’m reaching out to introduce the Admin+ program (if you haven’t heard about it already!) & let you know I’m here if you have any questions about it. Take a look at the details here & feel free to send over any questions you have. pikushi ✧.* <staff /> 20:25, 18 September 2023 (UTC)

Re: Discord[[edit source]]

Iii am so sorry, I messed up and made the request disappear — could you send it again? But it's very very good to hear from you. (EDIT: Okay, I've found the means to resend one to you myself, so… could you accept that one, haha? Sorry about this mess.) Scrooge MacDuck 20:19, 11 October 2023 (UTC)

Outdated sentence on ParentsPage[[edit source]]

Hiya. Just wanted to point out that the ParentPage still cites the Peter Cushing films as invalid sources. WaltK 16:53, 26 October 2023 (UTC)

Deadname forum[[edit source]]

Hey, could you perhaps take a look at Forum:Clarifying in-universe deadnaming policy in response to Rose Noble. I think it would be great to hear your view on the matter as this one might sit close to you, on both sides of the matter. Danniesen 11:58, 28 November 2023 (UTC)

Sock puppet[[edit source]]

Hi, I have a favor to ask. I am probably the least technical person on this wiki, and I don't know how to check for sock puppetry, or even if I have the permissions to do that. There is a series of users, most with similar names, that have been uploading the same images, without licenses and breaking several other policies, over the last two weeks or so. I have given two of them short blocks for repeat offenses, but another one or more have appeared. It's pretty apparent from their behavior that they are most likely the same person using different names, especially after I blocked a couple of them. If you are able, could you check on User:Theincrediblehulk2003, User:Hulkbreaktheworld, User:Hulksmashtheworld and User:The Worldbreaker Hulk. There may be more, but these four are the ones I can recall. Thanks! Shambala108 16:29, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

Thanks and that answers my question, none of us have that ability :D Next time I'll go to Fandom staff. Thanks again, Shambala108 18:33, 19 December 2023 (UTC)

That weird IP user again[[edit source]]

Hey SOTO, if you could block 183.132.187.157 and delete the pages they created that would be lovely. Cheers. Najawin 09:08, 16 January 2024 (UTC)

Prop delete query[[edit source]]

I've been looking through the Category:Proposed deletions category recently and noticed an inordinate amount are pages lurking as sub-pages of your page. Some of them are obviously archived forum pages, and others not, I just wanted to double check with you that these should be in the delete category (or not). --Tangerineduel / talk 13:58, 6 February 2024 (UTC)

Forum Archives[[edit source]]

Hey, obviously zero, zero pressure. I'm just curious whether the plan is to move User:SOTO/Forum Archive to a more permanent location in the near future now that we're on the new site or if it's lower down on the priority list. If that's the plan, I'll hold off on adding threads from that era to my sandbox. (Again, absolutely no pressure here, this is just wondering so I can figure out how to organize my own stuff.) Cheers. Najawin 09:16, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Changing username[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO. Bongolium said you might be able to help.

The "BtR" in my username was chosen because it was the initials of my first Wikia username so I could be recognised, but I'm not a huge fan of it. I also chose "Saxon" at random, so I'm not particularly attached to my username.

Would you be able to change my name to a mononymous "Jack"? If that's not possible, let me know and I'll spend some time thinking up a new and more unique one.

Thanks. Jack "BtR" Saxon 13:57, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

That's great, thanks very much. (And sorry about my problematic punctuation marks!) Jack 13:09, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the message[[edit source]]

Just wanted to say hey, thanks for the message. I had no idea about this shift, although I remember ages ago when Oasis was being changed or something, there was talk then about moving, and it was mostly in the 'too hard' basket. I considered staying over there, but with most of the admins left for here it would've been less than great to remain, I remember when we struggled for admins and it became a slog to keep things going. And as an "old guard" it certainly made me realise how long I'd been on the other place. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:14, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

I too am a bit sad to be leaving too, especially so leaving the remaining admins who have stayed.
But then I think of changes like Twitter to X, that made me look into Mastodon. And at some point a decision needs to be made.
I don't get that involved at Wikimedia, I'm mostly categorising images and working through their backlog of images needing categories. But I'll look in and see how things are moving.
I've only been working my way through all the stubs and other pages like that. I keep cycling through all those maintenance categories as that's what I realised people were tagging stuff to be done, and then it was forgotten about, or never removed, I'm not worried about anything of that which might've been missed.
Only thing I've created in the past days was https://tardis.fandom.com/wiki/Tardis:User_talk_pages mostly to address a missing explainer that I think we all take for granted. I was sure it was explained elsewhere in a Manual of Style that might've been edited away.
I think most of our policies need a read through and check, there's a lot of stuff that's either been dropped because of changes to the wiki, or features been removed or other changes. So whether it's moved over or not doesn't matter.
I'll keep an eye out, bureaucrat wise for name changes. --Tangerineduel / talk 06:07, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

Renaming users[[edit source]]

I've seen your work on the Help:Changing your username, and we are risking this process getting away from us, very quickly.

I've drafted up a policy for name changes in brief; can only be done once ever 365 days, you need a certain number of edits. I'm not sure where to set the threshold for edit count, it can't be too low because you should just create a new account if that's the problem.

The full draft here: User:Tangerineduel/Sandbox 7.

But I also think we need to get all the other policies it references edited and in place, so possibly a pause on renames as well, while all this is going on. --Tangerineduel / talk 05:28, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Sure go ahead with edits. Only I will say when / if the policy comes to a point where it needs to go to a page I'll probably just copy and paste it, rather than moving. All my current sandboxes I've used, deleted and reused a several times.
If you think the edit history should be preserved I'll create another (new) sandbox with a clean history so it can be moved when the time comes.
I was just thinking back in the early days of the old wiki, I'm sure that's what people'd do, create a new account and say 'this is my new account'.
My intent with that wording was to minimise work for us.
Ideally this policy shouldn't need to be used, or it's difficult to be used, to reduce the amount of work that's needed behind the scenes. Even limiting to 1 a year, if we get people wanting a change or asking on talk pages etc, that's still going to add up. I know it's people from the old wiki taking the chance to change something at the moment. And I acknowledge that there's not a lot of people now but I'm looking ahead to potential problems.
The Tardis:Username policy should already cover any problematic user names. But we can add something that allows us to further enforce that.
I think the checkuser role really needs to be used extremely sparingly. I think I'd prefer to just liberally use the block function.
I agree we really need to consider how we represent ourselves now we're on our own. Back at the old place it was still wikia (and all it became) to point to as being the overseers of it all.
I'm happy to put my oar in if you want an additional voice, but I'm less technical and more policy and content minded, while trying to head off problems. —Tangerineduel / talk 13:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Infobox image[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Just wanted to check in and apologise for editing the infobox gallery on The Doctor without community discussion. I had done so on 'Fandom' and nobody pulled me on it - not an excuse, it's just why I copied the edit over to here without realising I shouldn't have done. I have since started a discussion about it on the Talk page. My bad! — Fractal Doctor 19:48, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks[[edit source]]

Thanks for restoring my admin bit while I was bumbling around the new place. As I said to Tangerineduel, it’s nice to have it, even if, as Cassandra said about the Doctor’s “parts”, they’re barely used. —Josiah Rowe 19:49, 2 March 2024 (UTC)

Absolutely! Welcome back to the family. I'm so glad you made it, after all. 💙SmallerOnTheOutside.pngSmallerOnTheOutside.png
(I noticed your note about keeping things on one talk page, so I'm following suit. I've heard whispers of a plan to discuss changing that convention in a forum discussion, so conversations are easier to follow. It is, after all, something quite peculiar to Tardis.)

Username change[[edit source]]

Hi again SOTO, I believe you may be able to assist - if possible, I'd like to change my username to simply "Fractal". It doesn't appear to be registered, so I'm hopeful it can be done. I chose my original username based on old fanfiction, and no longer wish to be associated with it, but I would like to keep the "Fractal" element of it (which will also help with regards to people still recognising who I am). Please could you let me know if this is possible? Thank you. — Fractal Doctor 21:02, 2 March 2024 (UTC) Thank you kindly for the username change :) — Fractal Doctor 18:59, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

Username Change[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Back when I made my account, all those years ago, I was not very wise with my username choice. The less sites it is on the better, so can I please have it changed to Laura in the TARDIS. Thank you LauraBatham 08:26, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

That's perfectly fine. I'm happy to wait. Thanks for getting back to me so quickly (and for the pre-approval). LauraBatham 09:00, 3 March 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for sorting that out for me. Laura 04:45, 13 April 2024 (UTC)

A month of edits, and a change of name[[edit source]]

I just want to say I appreciate just how much a behemoth of workload I'm sure you have, you're doing a great job. I'm just wondering what my options are, having had no idea this was even happening I did virtually a month's worth of edits which I'd love to get back. And also a change in username, if possible, would be nice, I'm thinking FuturesEnd. Thanks! StevieGLiverpool 07:41, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

RE: Welcome![[edit source]]

I'm glad to see everything transferred swimmingly! I'll have a double check to see if there's any edits I should manually get in here, but other than that sounds good. Many thanks for putting me at number 2! StevieGLiverpool 21:14, 15 March 2024 (UTC)

User rename policy[[edit source]]

Just thought I'd drop a message to say I've created Tardis:User rename policy and its related Tardis:User rename policy/Change request subpage. There's inuse tags on them so we can make any changes before making this official. --Tangerineduel / talk 04:03, 30 March 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for the edit and I have a question ^^'[[edit source]]

Hello, thank you very much for uploading my edits (sorry if it took me a long time to respond, I'm having A LOT of trouble to use the user page...I even don't know if it's the right place to ask that...) while I'm here I have a question, on my user page, is it possible to put one or two images that would not have their place on wiki pages, just to make it look nice for a little bio... If this is not the case, sorry for having disturbed :/ If so, how do we put other images that will not be used for the wikia, and sorry for the disturbance too... KaradegRara 15:36, 2 April 2024 (UTC)KaradegRara

Light theme subheadings[[edit source]]

There's been an issue with the light theme for a number of days now where the subheadings appear blue, with the text themeselves being almost unreadable. I think it's to do with the subheadings being matched to the dark theme's background colour and not flipping to the corresponding light theme's background colour when that's used. I can't be the only one using the light theme, hoping you can help. --Tangerineduel / talk 04:29, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

Sixth Doctor contents box[[edit source]]

Hi, not sure if you are the right admin for this, so please forward to the appropriate person. I was editing the Sixth Doctor's page, and his contents box is much lower down than expected, it's appearing at the start of the biography section, with a big gap between the infobox and the contents box. I have checked on multiple browsers, and that it isn't happening for other larger pages such as the Fifth, Seventh and Eighth Doctors. I can see a template on the page which is misplaced so could be a wider error in the page, unless the template is in an unexpected place. Thanks AdricLovesNyssa 21:20, 4 April 2024 (UTC)

CSS issue on transmat pages[[edit source]]

hi! i dont know if you're aware of this issue, but i was looking at some of the transmat pages (specifically Transmat:Torchwood, but i checked and the other transmat pages linked on the wiki's main page have the same issue) with the dark theme enabled and i noticed that the little boxes on these pages are white, and the text in them is light grey, which makes them pretty difficult to read.

Game of Rassilon and Badges[[edit source]]

Hi SOTO,

Is there any chance of badges and the Game of Rasillon returning to the new wiki?

Thanks in advance.

Where could I talk about an interpretation I have about "The Legend of Ruby Sunday"? ^^'[[edit source]]

Hello, I'm sorry to bother... again... but I just finished to watch "The Legend of Ruby Sunday" and it impacted me for personal reasons and I really want to talk about it, of my interpretation of someone's comeback and it echoed in my head about a dialogue between the 1st Doctor and Bill in "Twice Upon a Time" (I try to avoid spoils, just in case)
Edit : Nevermind, I just wrote it on my own page... sorry for the inconvenience :/ KaradegRara 22:10, 15 June 2024 (UTC)

The Last Day[[edit source]]

Hi, SOTO! Could I trouble you to merge The Last Day 1 (audio story) and The Last Day 2 (audio story) into The Last Day (audio story)? There's been a discussion about it. Jack 12:31, 3 July 2024 (UTC)

Tagged[[edit source]]

Hey. Not that the wording choice matters, but "impliedly" is a word. It means, "in a manner that is hinted at or suggested rather than directly expressed". I probably first heard about it when learning how an Act of Parliament can impliedly repeal an early one, so perhaps it's more commonly used in the British legal world. Jack 19:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Nah, it's no problem! It should be as easy to understand as possible. Jack 20:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Jenny One and infobox[[edit source]]

Hi there, I was waiting for someone to come along who could help with Jenny. Firstly an easy one: since the naming system seems to have established itself as Jenny 7 and Jenny 8, it is perhaps best for us to rename Jenny One to Jenny 1? I think your rename of Category is a great idea too.

Secondly, would it be perhaps worth our time making one of those little infoboxes that sit on the side of a page with the Jenny ships in chronological order? As a huge fan of the Jenny series, I just think any excuse to get people exploring it would be a great opportunity. I can happily tell you the order in which they come. I'll be trying to add to the whole Jenny side of the Wiki when my freetime allows it.

Thanks, Thefartydoctor 22:36, 12 November 2024 (UTC)
