Subscriber Short Trips
Subscriber Short Trips were a series of audio short stories published by Big Finish Productions for subscribers of their monthly range of stories.
The first eleven stories in the series were readings of previous Short Trips prose short stories. In December 2014, the range switched to newly commissioned original-to-audio Short Trips. The first eight of these releases served to "fill in the gaps" so that every year of Main Range releases from 2010 onwards would have four accompanying subscriber stories. These were added to the accounts of users who had already subscribed to the stories released in these previous years. This pattern of four stories per year continued in subsequent years until the end of the monthly range in 2021. Some of these were commissioned from entrants to The Paul Spragg Memorial Short Trip Opportunity.
The range concluded in March 2021 with the final release in the monthly range. With the restructuring of Big Finish's series structure came the introduction of a successor series to the Subscriber Short Trips known as Interludes, which were released as bonus stories alongside certain boxsets.
As of 2023[update], the majority of the Subscriber Short Trips are still only available by purchasing a Monthly Range subscription containing the release associated with the subscriber special. However, from 2016-18, fourteen of them were re-released for individual purchase in the Short Trips Rarities range, with new cover art to boot.
