The label Type 102 or 102-form was applied to at least two types of TARDIS.
Around 150 years before the War in Heaven, (PROSE: Crimes Against History) around the same time as Romana II's close election to the Presidency, (PROSE: Happy Endings, Crimes Against History) a "technological revolution" of superficial timeship augmentation led to a proliferation of nonstandard Type names. (PROSE: Crimes Against History) Around this time, Epsilon Delta stole a "Type 102" TARDIS that featured a voice-activated lock, a chameleon circuit which he found highly reliable, and a number of spare dimensions for housing prisoners. Using this TARDIS, he fled Gallifrey and travelled to other worlds, including Argolis and Earth. (PROSE: The Dimension Riders)
In the build-up to the War in Heaven, the proliferate superficial "Types" were standardised (PROSE: Crimes Against History) and "Type 102" came to refer to the first sentient, humanoid TARDIS, who became the "mother" of all Type 103s. The Eighth Doctor's companion Compassion became the Type 102 after her biodata was warped by signals from the TARDIS, picked up through her Remote receiver. (PROSE: The Shadows of Avalon)
