Death in Heaven was the twelfth and final episode of the eighth series of Doctor Who produced by BBC Wales.

The episode features the return of the Brigadier, now converted into a Cyberman. This is his first appearance since Survival.

Story notes

• Clara's ruse to the Cybermen of being the Doctor in the pre-opening teaser was followed by a one-off modification to the title sequence, with the eyes of the Twelfth Doctor being replaced by those of Clara's.
• This is the first and last episode of series 8 to show a scene mid-end credits that leads into the Christmas special.

• Kate presents a damaged Cyberman headpiece to the Cybermen who emerged from St. Paul's Cathedral - a token from their previous attempt at invading Earth. (TV: The Invasion)
• This is the third and second time the Doctor has been shown meeting Kate Stewart (TV: The Power of Three) and Osgood (TV: The Day of the Doctor) respectively.
